Umbreon is a Dark-Type Pokémon introduced in Generation II and one of the eight evolutions of Eevee. Its counterpart is the Eeveelution, Espeon.
Appearance[]
Umbreon is a black quadrupedal, mammalian Pokémon that resembles a black cat with some lagomorph traits. Umbreon has red eyes, encircled ears and tail with yellow rings. Umbreon also has yellow rings on his legs and forehead. Umbreon has small sharp fangs, and can be seen when it opens its mouth, similar to Sylveon.
Personality[]
Like the other Eeveelutions, Umbreon is a carnivore and it is also known as a solitary predators. It stalks its prey silently during the night and kills it by pouncing, then biting its throat with its small, sharp fangs before eating it.
When an Umbreon senses an enemy's presence, it waits for its enemy to come into range. After it gets captured and tamed by its trainer, Umbreon become very protective of their Trainers and will chase aggressors with Pursuit.
Due to Eevee's evolution into Umbreon relies on friendship, Umbreon are rare to find in the wild and more commonly sighted in urban areas, where they are occasionally seen sleeping on rooftops during the day, and walking across roofs at night as they scan their environment from above for prey (as they have the feline ability to climb).
Natural Abilities[]
After getting exposed to the moonlight, the patterns on their fur glow and fill up with energy which Umbreon releases at night or when they are excited, and can use it to strike fear into bystanders to scare them away. The patterns on their fur gain a dim golden light when about to attack. Due to its power being based on moonlight, Umbreon cannot battle well during the daytime unlike its counterpart Espeon.
Umbreon can also spray a cloud of toxic gas from their sweat glands to paralyze their aggressor when agitated. Umbreon are also nocturnal and have powerful night vision. The primarily black color of their fur also allows them to easily hide and conceal themselves in the dark just like camouflage.
Evolution[]
In the mainline games Eevee evolves into Umbreon by high levels of friendship at night.
In Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, Eevee requires a Moon Shard in order to evolve into Umbreon.
In the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, Eevee evolves into Umbreon with a Lunar Ribbon.
