Uncle Dan is one of the five main protagonists (alongside Mack, Pam, Gwen, and Dax) of Illumination's 14th feature film Migration. He is the uncle of Mack Mallard, the uncle-in-law of Pam Mallard and the granduncle of Dax and Gwen.
He is voiced by Danny DeVito, who also played The Lorax in the 2012 titular film, Philoctetes in Hercules, Max Medici in the 2019 live-action remake of Dumbo, Eddie Gilpin in Jumanji: The Next Level, Bruce Davis in Haunted Mansion, Frank Reynolds in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Dorgle in Smallfoot, Swackhammer in Space Jam, and Harry Warmwood in Matilda.

Dan is best described as grumpy, lazy and sluggish almost exactly that of his nephew except he's less overprotective and has no signs of cowardice.
