The Undercover unit are the protagonists of Stingers, a division of Victoria Police, and later a sub-division of the Special Investigations squad, established to investigate and infiltrate criminal organizations to take down suspects.
The Undercover unit was formed by Bernie Rocca prior to the events of Stingers, and the unit at the start of the series consisted of Rocca as Head of the unit, his second-in-command Ellen "Mac" MacKenzie, the unit's main operatives Angie Piper, Peter Church, and Oscar Stone, and new recruit Kaye Kelso. Out of the original members of the unit, only Angie and Church remained by the end of the series, by which stage the unit was part of the Special Investigations squad led by Luke Harris, and consisted of Angie, Church, Harris, Christina Dichiera, and Leo Flynn.
