Unico (ユニコ, Yuniko) is the main protagonist of the manga and anime films of the same name.

Unico's way of bringing joy to others gets him into trouble with the gods, who believe that happiness should only be obtained by years of sacrifice and hard labor and not by meeting a little unicorn. The gods send the West Wind to banish Unico to the Hill of Oblivion, but the West Wind takes pity on Unico and declines to follow the gods' commands. The gods are furious when they learn of the West Wind's defiance, and send the Night Wind to capture Unico. To protect Unico from the gods and the Night Wind, the West Wind must continually transport the little unicorn from place to place. Whenever the gods discover Unico's whereabouts, the West Wind appears to spirit him away once again, often without getting to say goodbye to any of the friends he has made.

Personality

Unico is good-hearted, moral, naive, and friendly. He can be meek and allow others to take advantage of him, but is also courageous and defends his friends from threats.

Physical Apperance

Unico is a baby Unicorn with a reddish mane and cyan fur. He has the ability to turn himself into an adult form, where he has an elongated snout and wings.

Film Series

The Fantastic Adventures of Unico

In the Fantastic Adventures of Unico, Unico is a baby unicorn with the ability to make people happy. This angers the gods who believe that happiness should only come through years of hard labor, and decide to send Unico to the Isle of Oblivion. The wind Zephyrs takes pity on him and sends him to an island where he befriends Beezle the Devil.

The Gods discover his location and Zephyrs takes him to a field where he meets a Kitten named Katy, who wants to be a witch. Unico turns Katy into a human, and she gets entranced by a man named Baron de Ghost. Baron de Ghost is revealed to be a demon, and Unico has to fight him to save his friends. In the end, Zephyrs takes him away yet again.

Unico in the Island of Magic

Zephyrs takes Unico to a forest and his memory of the previous events are wiped. Unico is harassed by a cat, but meets a sweet Polish girl named Cherry who befriends him. Her older brother is revealed to be working for the wizard Lord Kuruku, who turns people into puppets and brings them to his island.

Unico and Cherry try to find the Trojan Horse, who they believe has the answers. They go on a journey and find out that Kuruku was a puppet that was abandoned but brought back to life to take revenge on the human race.

Unico confronts Kuruku once more, and tells him that if he will be his friend so Kuruku will stop hurting others. Kuruku is touched by his words but as hate was the only thing keeping him alive, he turns back into a puppet.

Zephyrs takes away Unico once again at the end of the film.
