Upa (ウパ, Upa?), known as Littlefoot in the Harmony Gold dub, is a character from the Dragon Ball franchise. He is the son of Bora and one of the guardians of the Sacred Land of Karin. He is a major ally during the Red Ribbon Army Saga.

Upa was voiced by Mitsuko Horie as a kid, Masaaki Ōkura as a teen and Takeshi Kusao as an adult in Japanese, Jamie Johnston in the Harmony Gold dub, Kara Edwards (movie 3) and Susan Huber as a kid, Dameon Clarke as a teen and in GT, and Eric Vale (DBZ) and John Michael Tatum (DBZ Kai) in the Funimation dub, Alistair Abell in the Ocean Group dubs, Brett Bauer in the Blue Water dub, Sharon Mann in the AB Groupe dub and Mitch Frankenberger Pellicer in the Creative Products Corporation dub.

Biography[]

Dragon Ball[]

In Age 750, Upa and Bora found the Four Star Dragon Ball in their camp. Then both are surrounded by Colonel Yellow and his brigade. Upa goes to a safe place while Bora defeats all the soldiers. However, Yellow escapes and takes Upa as a hostage. While Bora tries to make a deal with Yelllow, Goku arrives and saves Upa. Then Bora gives the Dragon Ball to Goku in appreciation, since it was a memory of his grandfather. At this moment Tao Pai Pai, a mercenary hired by the Red Ribbon Army, arrives to kill Goku. Bora decides to fight him in his place but Tao defeats and kills him easily, making Upa feel very sad. Goku tries to fight him to avenge Bora but Tao defeats him easily and almost kills him. However, Goku survives and promises Upa that he will defeat the Red Ribbon Army and will reunite the other Dragon Balls to save his father. After Goku trains for three days with Karin at the top of the tower, Tao returns to finish what he started and threatens to kill Upa. But Goku arrives at the last moment and fights Tao, this time winning him while Tao is seriously injured by his own grenade. After Goku defeats the Red Ribbon Army and got six of the seven Dragon Balls, he picks up Upa to the Fortuneteller Baba palace with the other Z-Fighters, where they will find the location of the last Dragon Ball. There he teams up with Puar to defeat Fangs the vampire with an strategy, Upa breathes him with Garlic and Puar turns into a porcupine while Fangs bites him, them Upa imitates the shape of a cross and Puar hits him out of the ring, winning successfully. Then Upa witnesses the other fights and the reunion of Goku with his grandfather. After Goku learns the location of the last Dragon Ball and takes it from the Pilaf Gang. He goes with upa to the Sacred Land of Karin to make their wish. When they summoned Shenron, Upa initially got scared from him but then he decided to make his wish of reviving Bora, that Shenron grants with no problems. Then both Upa and Bora say goodbye to Goku, who goes on new adventures.

Three years later, Upa meets Goku again when he and Yajirobe goes to the Karin Tower to find a way to defeat King Piccolo.

Mystical Adventure[]

Upa and his father go to Mifan to protect the Dragon Ball that they found while they flee from the Mifan Army. There they befriend the Dragon Team, who helps them to defeat the army. In a similar way to the series, Upa witnesses the death of his father in the hands of Tao Pai Pai and how he is revived by Shenron at the end.

Dragon Ball Z[]

In Age 761, Upa is now a teenager who became stronger and now helps his father to protect the land. He confronts Launch, who was trying to steal in their tent.

In Age 774, Upa is killed by Super Buu but then is revived by Porunga. He and his father are later seen giving their energy to Goku to defeat Kid Buu.

Dragon Ball GT[]

In Age 789, Upa is teleported by Goku to New Planet Plant to save him and his village from the explosion of the Earth caused by the Black Star Dragon Balls.
