Marlena Gru is a supporting character in Despicable Me trilogy. She is Felonious Gru's mother.
Who is she?[]
She is cynical, hard-to-impress mother of Gru who neglects him most of the time and at best gives him cynical compliment. This kind of upbringing was the prominent reason Gru became a villain.
Why She Cannot Qualify as PG[]
- She had been neglectful of her own son and has a tendency to be rather cold to him. She had ignored him in his childhood, in age where children needs focus and attention of parents. She remained unimpressede most of the time with things her son invented. This negligence, no doubt had contributed greatly to Gru taking a path to villainy, with intent to impress and desiring to make his mark. Only when Gru proved his worth to be a good father was mom and son finally able to reconcile. I cannot fathom what Gru's adulthood would have been like had she paid attention to Gru earlier.
- She is ignorant of her own lack of parenting skills - parents do not let their children become villains no matter what. It is very ironic that while she can take care of herself, she fails to raise her son therefore failing as a parent
- But she was fond of Gru's adopted daughters = playing favoritism.
