Hello there. I am here to talk about another Persona character. This is the final character for the third game and let’s see how she goes as I am not sure if she could qualify especially her future parts but let’s see how it goes according to my friend Jeremy.
What's The Work?
Persona is one of the most popular franchise in the Shin Megami Tensei series. I will be focusing on the third game as it stars the player as Makoto Yuki as he is joined by S.E.E.S. to defeat the shadows who attempt to cause havoc with Nyx attempting to destroy the entire world.
Who is She? What Has She Done?
Mitsuru Kirijo is a member and leader of the S.E.E.S. and is a member of the Kirijo family. As a young girl, when one of the person at Tartarus turns into a shadow, she protect her dad and defeats a shadow declaring this a vow and reason after awakening her persona. In the past she and her friends Akihiko and Shinjiro were defeating and stopping many shadows and unintentionally murdered Amanda's mother. This lead them to not just feel guilty but Shinjiro no longer working at S.E.E.S. to atone. Of course she now forms a new group to stop the Shadows and save the world.
All is going well for the missions until Yukari decides to confront her telling the truth about why they are fighting the Shadows and what she is hiding. Having no choice and realizing it is relevant tells everyone her grandfather is evil and was responsible for causing everything that happened in the last 10 years. Which shocked everyone and knowing her she had a reason not to do so anyway. Of course she and the group continues what they are doing until one incident happened after defeating the twelve shadows.
Not just Shinjiro dying from Takaya but also her father dying from Shinji's hand when they almost got executed by Shinji. This completely breaks her. It wasn't until she grew stronger after Yukari snaps her out and talks to her about the problems she is having which makes Kirio feel better in the school trip. In the final battle, she stopped Nyx from destroying the world. Everyone memories is wiped while Agis is with Makoto lays on her lap before dying promising to always be at his side with her and her friends going to the rooftop after her speech ended.
Mitsuru and the others are trapped in an infinite loop and had to go in the abyss of time with Metis to free themselves going through trials. After finishing the trials, Mitsuru choose to side with Yukari into going back from the past because she does not want to see Yukari being alone and just reviving Makoto in battle. They both lost the round and Mitsuru with her team defeated Erebeus stopping it from awakening Nyx. After the battle the team disbanded leaving their dorms to their own adventures.
Six years have passed and Mitsuru is now an adult leading a group called the Shadow Operatives. Mitsuru comes to the building to get the officer at the dark hour realizing something is wrong and does her job. She now met Naoto as she does her job at the airline before the hijack happened kidnapping Labrys. She continues her investigation with Aigis to return her sister Labrys back in the real world. She enters the tv with three of her friends to find Labrys and succeeded in doing so after many trial and errors and helped Labrys confront her shadow before retrieving Labrys. Labrys talks to her after waking up and decides to welcome her to the team into stopping shadows and danger much to the happiness of Aigis.
The grand prix happened again but this time in the real world where General Teddie intends to end the world if there is no champion to all the persona users. She and all her friends got captured by the mastermind as the investigation team intends to rescue them before the world ends. She was rescued by the group and talks about Sho's tragic past before having Yu come and stop his plan with her and the others stopping the shadows from doing so making it so Yu and Adachi have enough time to save the world. Kagutsuchi the mastermind was finally defeated and the world is saved with her friends being happy.
Corrupting Factors
Yes, it is true she can have moments of being cold and manipulative but she still showed herself to have a caring side and in my eyes most of them are for very good reasons and her cold self is mostly seen as interpretation which is not something Mitsuru is in reality. Hell as it progresses she seemed to lose those qualities after her father's death and became a better person.
Now I feel there is one thing I should mention is her execution at the hot spring scene. She freezes the boys if they get caught in the hot springs with them thinking they are peeping. Yes, it is very bad for her as it was a misunderstanding in that scene. But honestly, I do not see this as a problem. The only reason why it is like this is more due to the point of view or interpretation. If you were a woman, would you also think they were peeping? Yes realistically speaking inside a girl's hour. And it's is unlikely Mitsuru actually realized it or know the actual truth and she seem to get over it a day later. So I do not think it is too much of a problem.
Admirable Standard
Persona has a high standard even if you are a hero. As insane as I am, Mitsuru has the acts to pass the entire baseline or a standard as a matter of being more hopeful. Mitsuru in past defeated many shadows before SEES came into play including defending her father as a child. Once banded together with the group, she defeated even more shadows including at the dark hour especially the part where she defeated Nyx before Makoto sacrificed himself from destroying the entire world. In Arena, she saved Labrys who is Aigis sister and had helped a lot in the story including saving the world for Yu.
Final Verdict
