Hello again, today I bring you a new candidate and it is from an anime movie, Rudger from The Imaginary, so without further ado, let's get started.
What's the work?
The Imaginary is an anime film based on the 2014 novel of the same name by A.F. Harrold, the story follows a boy named Rudger who is a invisible entity better knows as a Imaginary, Along side with his creator, a girl named Amanda Shuffleup, spending their time delving into adventures using her imagination, however their bond is threatened when Rudger is forced to confront an terrible fate to which all Imaginaries are face it: When a human forgets an imaginary and are erased from existence.
Who is Rudger and what have done?
He's the main protagonist of the film, and the Amanda's creation and best friend, during the film's introduction, Rudger was chasing and try to grabbing a star in the top of a tree and explaing us, he's have 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days and born in a world of the imagination of Amanda where a lumberjack rock giant, a squirrel with an umbrella and a dress and a sea whale live, Then he climbs onto a big giant bird that was flying, then see his creator Amanda who was falling peacefully in a umbrella and then start to playing and he made a promise to her not to disappear, to protect herself and never cry.
Later when Amanda returns of the school in a rainy day, returns to the Shuffleup's book shop, start to playing imaginating a snow land with a stuffed bison, but Amanda's mother interrupts their game, scolding her for leaving the umbrella without finishing drying, leaving the floor wet, then a mysterious man named Mr. Bunting ring the doorbell telling Lizzie that he was doing a "survey" in the neighborhood of of society and how children behave these days, Rudger and Amanda they were coming down the stairs listening to the conversation, but to their surprise, Mr. Bunting had a terrifying dead-looking girl, but they left the bookstore leaving Lizzie doubting about the survey on children and she did not believe Amanda that she saw the strange scary girl since she was imaginary.
While Lizzie was preparing Hot Chocolate for her daughter and her friend Rudger, the two they playing putting a marble in a hole, Suddenly Lizzie forgot to buy eggs and runs to the market to buy some, meanwhile Rudger and Amanda start playing hide and seek with Goldie, looking for a good place to hide, Amanda hides on the counter and when Rudger was hiding someone had turned off the lights and they meet the scary girl again who was trying to take Rudger away, making Amanda scream and the girl run away, trying to tell her mother the truth but she didn't believe her, telling her that everything is okay and that she didn't exist.
Rudger then tried to cheer Amanda up and calm her down, but she was upset that she didn't believe her mom, and told Rudger that one day she would stop imagining it and that she wouldn't care, while drawing some lines on a piece of paper, then Rudger climbs to the top of the bookstore admiring the night, thinking about what Amanda had done, and see a Robot-like imaginary who tells Rudger that he was a friend of a person and that he no longer needed him and that he was about to disappear.
The next day, Lizzie was in the car driving and apologized to his daughter, who had behaved badly, and promised to take her swimming or to visit grandma, When Lizzie went to pay for parking, Rudger tells Amanda that he is not going to apologize, and leaves upset telling her not to disappear, but again they meet Mr. Bunting who was looking for an imaginary, then he sees the terrifying girl, scared to see her he asks Amanda to run to tell mom, but she did not want to leave Rudger who was about to be devoured by Mr. Bunting inhaling him, Amanda uses a handbag to hit Mr. Bunting and they manage to escape, but the girl was after them and unfortunately Amanda ends up being hit by a car and is taken to the hospital, Rudger goes after the ambulance car to see Amanda, but the car it was too fast for him, on the street, with no one able to help him, since he is an imaginary, he began to have the terrible fate of the imaginary, being forgotten, on his way he meets a Odd-eyed cat named Zinzan and he can see him, he takes him to a place where he would be safe a sanctuary for the imaginary in the library.
Once inside there, he meets a hippopotamus named Snowflake who was arriving to see a concert and there he also meets a girl named Emily who lead the sanctuary, when the library closes, the imaginaries enters to their city, enjoy it of a party and a warm bonfire, Emily explains Rudger that the imaginary ones have a job spending time with the children and playing with them, But Rudger tells her that Mr. Bunting had attacked him and caused Amanda to be run over, causing all the Imaginaries to panic and they all tell Rudger about Bunting and his past and how he eats Imaginaries to stay alive, Emily calmed them down telling them that they were safe in Imaginary City in the library and saying that Mr. Bunting is just a myth and that he doesn't exist.
In his first day of work for a imaginary for a child named John to playing as astronauts reaching to the moon, Rudger begins to search for a moonstone, for a "mission" to collect rare artifacts, suddenly enemy ships begin to attack Captain John's ship, Rudger goes up to the ship to save, but Bones who now renamed himself Wobbles manages to destroy the enemy ships using bubbles as power, when the boy went to sleep, the boys leave but Bones stays because he already found a boy to spend time with, Rudger and the others congratulate him and return to the library.
In the road to the sanctuary, Rudger hears a the sound of a bicycle bell and to his surprise it was Mr. Bunting who was watching Wobbles and John, he goes after him who is excited that he is still alive and that Amanda could also be alive, Rudger tells Bunting that it was his fault that Amanda had an accident, this man was trying to inhale and eat the boy again but a bus appears and Emily and Snowflake were there, Rudger manages to escape, and see the Goldie's car arriving at the Shuffleup's book shop, the boy enters just in time before the door closed and see Lizzie and the grandmother who asking to her daughter why she couldn't spend more time with her granddaughter in the hospital and Lizzie is going to the hospital tomorrow to see his daughter who was still in a coma from the car accident, Lizzie enters to her daughter's room and see the box who was have a photo of his husband and several things of Amanda and her umbrella and stars crying, Rudger was watching her cry and cheered her up a little, even though he wasn't seeing it, But the Mr. Bunting's imaginary ambushes Rudger who was off guard and drop out of the shop to send to Bunting, lucky Emily was coming to rescue Rudger attacking the Bunting's imaginary and escape and return to the library safe and sound.
However Mr. Bunting trap the boys into a dead end and using his imagination, create a world resemble a wasteland, Zinzan order Rudger to find the door who direct the library, while Emily face it the Bunting's Imaginary, the three tries to escape bur Bunting shoots Emily causing her to end up being erased from existence to the horror of Rudger and his friends who end up forgetting her.
With losing a good friend and a heartbreking, Rudger meets an old dog named Fridge and for his surprise, he was Lizzie's former imaginary, the dog tells the boy of how her friend was, the boy and tells him that she is fine and that she was working hard and that after work she is taking her daughter Amanda and Rudger to have fun, and the dog would appreciate it.
Hoping to have to see Amanda at the hospital, she decides to pretend to be a girl named Aurora who is the imaginary friend of a girl named Julia who is one of Amanda's classmates and with her help she asks her to take her to the hospital but he doesn't seem to be interested, but on the way he sees an ambulance car, and this was his chance to get to the place, to see her without knowing that Bunting was there posing as a doctor.
Entering the hospital and looking for the room where Amanda is, finds Lizzie who was checking on her daughter, and left in a moment, Rudger sees Amanda but still in coma to take care of her, but Bunting and his imaginary appears once again to confront him, willing to protect and save his friend's life, soon Amanda wakes up and sees Mr. Bunting thinking he was her doctor, but finally sees Rudger thanks to the Emily's goggles and she's uses her imagination to created a underwater and together faces Mr. Bunting and starts chasing them, but the scary girl traps Rudger and Amanda, Lizzie returns to the room and again does not believe Bunting's lie about the "survey" from the first time she met him and but she tells him to leave, but Bunting refused and was about to devour Rudger once and for all, Rudger tells Amanda about fridge to her mother and is coming and the dog comes to rescue and attacks the snake who is strangling Amanda and saves Rudger's life and the scary girl sacrifies her own life taking Rudger's place so that Bunting inhales and eat her, instantly causing it to die for good, After a heroic effort, Rudger reunites with Amanda and her mother for an emotional hug.
Shortly after Amanda recovers in the hospital, she and Rudger decide to go on one last adventure before the imaginary one leaves, but he promises Amanda that he will always be part of her memories, and presumably Rudger went to live in the sanctuary where all the imaginaries live in the library.
Mitigating Factors
Okay, when I saw the movie for the first, Rudger doesn't have some factors that could disqualify him, Rudger only had two where he had fought with Amanda when he was no longer going to need it and it disappeared but this was just a warm-up moment and scary accidentally Julia when tell her to send to the hospital causing her to scream in fear and her mother to panic when she was driving but this was not due to bad intentions, and they would say that he is just an imaginary created by a person, they can also have feelings for others.
Admirable Standards
Rudger meets his admirable standards as he set out to save Amanda's life from Mr. Bunting, when she was unconscious before recover the conscience in the hospital, besides that, he is represented as her guardian angel.
Final Veredict
I think Rudger can qualifity as pure good.
