Rejected
MosesTTC

Although The Prince of Egypt version is already Pure Good, I think this version of Moses also deserved to qualify.

My 13th proposal is also one of the proposals I've been most looking forward to making. In this proposal, I decided to put the differences between this film with The Prince of Egypt because I think it is still necessary.

What's the work?[]

The Ten Commandments is a 1956 American epic religious drama film about a Hebrew who grew up as an heir to the Egyptian throne, he also fell in love with Nefretiri, but unfortunately, Memnet (who feared Moses would betray Egypt because he was a Hebrew) decided to expose him.

Although Nefretiri murdered her so that she couldn't tell anyone this secret, he was still exposed anyway, it wasn't because of that he lost everything but because he murdered Baka to save a Hebrew.

After being exiled, he falls in love with Sephora and moves on.

Years later he is given the goal of returning, facing the current Pharaoh and forcing him to free the Hebrews, but things get worse when Nefretiri (who refused to leave the past behind) tries to stop the Pharaoh from freeing them, knowing that Moses you can't leave it.

Differences between The Ten Commandments and The Prince of Egypt:[]

  • In Ten Commandments is Rameses I who orders the newborns to be killed and he does this to stop the liberator from growing, after which he is never seen again and Seti replaces him when Moses grows up. In Prince of Egypt, Seti plays a larger and more villainous role, not only creating this massacre (although it was meant to prevent the Hebrews from forming an army) but also forcing Rameses to be as cruel as he was.
  • In Ten Commandments, Moses grows up as a war hero and is older and more mature in this version. In Prince of Egypte, Moses grows up as a playful and this has brought problems for Seti.
  • In Ten Commandments, Moses and Rameses are cousins and they didn't get along very well. In Prince of Egypt, they are brothers and were very close, but unfortunately, they were forced to separate.
  • In Ten Commandments, Nefretiri appears as Moses' first love interest before his exile, but when he returns, she tries to stop him from leaving. In Prince of Egypt, she received very little screen time and is a neutral character rather than a passionate villain.
  • In Ten Commandments, Baka is a master builder and Moses intentionally suffocates him to save Joshua, he was later exiled for it. In Prince of Egypt, Baka is a guard who has gone too far and Moses accidentally pushes him out of a big fall to protect an elderly Hebrew (in this version Rameses wanted to forgive him for committing this murder, but he ran away anyway, knowing this would not be forgotten).
  • In Ten Commandments, everyone (including Seti) discovered that Moses was a Hebrew. In Prince of Egypt, no one other than Miriam, Tuya and Rameses knew of his true heritage when he left Egypt.
  • In Ten Commandments, Moses has a son. In Prince of Egypt, he never had children despite being married.
  • In Ten Commandments, Rameses forces the Hebrews to make bricks without straw after Moses tries to fight him. In Prince of Egypt, Rameses forces the Hebrews to work double.
  • In Ten Commandments, Rameses didn't want to free the Hebrews so the kings of other countries wouldn't laugh at him and Nefretiri used that for her own benefit. In Prince of Egypt, Rameses didn't want to free the Hebrews because that would break the mighty dynasty.
  • In Ten Commandments, Rameses' son is still just dying the moment he gives up, however he is unable to save him. In Prince of Egypt, Rameses' son had already died so he gave up.
  • In Ten Commandments, it was Nefretiri who wanted Moses dead and manipulated Rameses into forcing him to take revenge. In Prince of Egypt, it is unknown why he changed his mind.
  • Finally, The Ten Commandments had a more developed ending because there was still a scene of Rameses returning defeated to Egypt, shortly after Moses is obliged by God to condemn all the Hebrews who betrayed him. In Prince of Egypt, Rameses is last seen shouting Moses' name and the film ends with Moses bringing the Ten Commandments to the Hebrews.

Who is he and what does he do?[]

  • At first, he convinced Egypt and Ethiopia to form an alliance.
  • He told Nefretiri that he would build a city for his uncle Seti out of love for him and not for his throne.
  • When Yoshabel got stuck, he kindly came to her aid.
  • Despite Joshua saying in front of him that there would be a deliverer, Moses decided not to punish him.
  • He had the idea of giving the Hebrews food and a weekly day of rest, knowing that they would work faster.
  • Upon discovering that Nefretiri was trying to hide a secret, he convinced her to tell him to prove that she loves him.
  • He told Bithian that even if she wasn't his biological mother, he would always love her.
  • After discovering that he is a Hebrew, he decided to temporarily work with the other Hebrews to see how they feel and that is how he discovered the cruelty of the Egyptians against them.
  • After an elderly Hebrew is severely beaten for standing up to a guard, Moses does not allow him to die in the mud.
  • He promised Nefretiri not to give up the chance to be Pharaoh when she said it was the chance to free the Hebrews.
  • He murdered Baka to save Joshua and even trusted him to keep his secret.
  • When Seti asks him what he had in self-defense, he just said that he was not the deliverer (because he didn't know) and would deliver the Hebrews if he could, even told him that he loves him more than any other son.
  • After his exile, he didn't give up on living and went on to fall in love with Sephora, he even accepted her the way she is.
  • Upon arriving in Midian, he sired Jethro's daughters from men who invaded the village.
  • Although at first he did not know that he was the prophetic deliverer and found it almost impossible to face Rameses, he accepted to help God put an end to the four hundred year slavery.
  • Upon returning to Egypt, he showed Rameses the power of God to free the Hebrews.
  • After Rameses' son kicked his staff, he was not angry about it.
  • Upon discovering that Nefretiri still loves him, he told her that he came back just to stop slavery and revealed he was already married (because Sephora had a spiritual beauty, which Nefretiri doesn't have and would never know what that is).
  • While Rameses refused to release the Hebrews, he was forced to see the power of God to let the Hebrews go.
  • Hearing Nefretiri say that the firstborn of the Hebrews would die, he knew that the Egyptians would be damned because of Rameses (although he would have released the Hebrews a little sooner had she not manipulated him, though Moses told her that he doesn't love her anymore) and warned her so.
  • When Bithian (now elderly) appeared at his door, he let not only her in but her men as well, he later introduced her to the others and let her join them on the journey.
    • According to her, it was thank God that she was released.
  • As soon as Rameses finally surrendered, he told him that thank God that slavery was over.
  • When Rameses changed his mind and Dathan accused him of leading everyone to their death, he opened a passage in the Red Sea for them to escape.
  • After the Hebrews were saved, Rameses finally accepted that the true god is God.
  • He went to the mountain to get ten commandments that the Hebrews had to follow to prove that they are good people.
  • Upon discovering that many Hebrews betrayed God and started doing illegal things, he punished them for it, but before that, he even gave a chance for the good Hebrews to join him.
  • After Moses was forbidden to enter the Promised land, he set Joshua to lead the Hebrews for him and moved to Mount Nebo.

Admirable Standard[]

  • Even before discovering that he is a Hebrew, he was already a hero because he was seen returning to Egypt as a war hero when he made peace with the Ethopians when he invaded their country.
  • Unlike many of the true Egyptians, Moses was friendly with the Hebrews, including the elderly, by helping Yochabel (not knowing she is his biological mother) when she got stuck and wouldn't allow an old man to die in the mud (this was the reason why Rameses did not want Moses to be Pharaoh), this even implies that if he had become Pharaoh, God would never have cursed Egypt and Moses would have easily freed the Hebrews rather than forced them to.
  • Despite Seti forcing Egypt to forget him for his betrayal, the two still loved each other inside and were not willing to be separated.
  • When Sephora told him that although she wasn't as beautiful or rich as Nefretiri, but had a spiritual beauty, Moses accepted her just the way she is.
  • Once Moses discovered that he was the prophesied deliverer, he agreed to end slavery even though he knew it was not easy and never gave up until Rameses surrendered.
  • Upon returning to Egypt, he told Rameses that men are governed by the Law and not by the will of another.
  • Even after discovering the cruelty of the Egyptians against the Hebrews, he still views some Egyptians in a positive light because he still saw Bithian as an ally of God and let her join the Hebrews when she was willing to leave Egypt.
  • Although he failed to become Pharaoh (which was a chance to stop this slavery), he at least managed to prove to Rameses that he is not a god and the true god is God.
  • In addition to ending this slavery, he accepted that the Hebrews had to follow the Ten Commandments.
  • Ultimately, he was not enraged that he was forbidden to enter the Promised Land, despite his loyalty.

Corrupting Factors[]

  • Although he betrayed Egypt by murdering Baka to save Joshua, what he did was save Lilia from Baka, so Moses couldn't let him die.
  • Moses is more serious in this version and this is because he is more mature in this version, however he is still friendly with his friends and allies.
  • As in The Prince of Egypt, the plagues were not released out of sadism or revenge but rather for Rameses not to allow his arrogance to bring more suffering.
  • It wasn't his (or Sephora's) fault that Nefretiri was heartbroken, as there were good reasons for them not to be together:
    • He actually missed her, but he had to put that behind him and move on (moving on is good for people who can't turn back), so he never really betrayed Nefretiri;
    • In fact, Nefretiri was egocentric because despite being a mother, she tried to cheat on her husband without issue just because she fell in love with Moses (and tried to convince him to do the same with Sephora just because he said he was already married). , because of the darkness in her heart, she didn't deserve to have him back (besides, it would have been almost impossible for her to still love him at that moment, so she should have gone through that phase);
    • Even if Moses (married or not) still loved her, the Egyptians would never let them be together because that was a crime against the Pharaoh and Moses could have been executed, so they never had a second chance (the guards who brought him to Nefretiri did not seem to know she still loves him).
  • Although he no longer loves her, he never had an interest in making her suffer because even though she saved his son (and secretly killed them), he knew that an Angel of Death would take her son's life. and he couldn't do anything to stop it, but at least he told her to spend time with her son while he still lived.
    • Speaking of the part that he couldn't save him, he still could have saved him by putting goat's blood, but if he did that he would be betraying God.
  • The death of the traitorous Hebrews was because God already wanted them dead for their betrayal and they were not supposed to have trusted Dathan, so Moses had to punish them to show God that he is a good person.

Overall Verdict[]

Although I'm not really sure if he's Pure Good, serving God is the right thing, Moses adored him and never stopped being loyal to him.
