The reason why I made this because my fellow HW and VW user Ord made a right point about the arguement when it comes with them punishing the villains. Yeah, this was discussed on the Discord server regarding of whether they should stay or not. As their original proposer, I have to re-watch several episodes or few clips where they appears (even if I have to do with the finales) whether I have to see if the arguements were valid or not. So yeah, this is arguably the most controversial post I have ever made.

What's the work?
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is an American-Canadian animated adventure fantasy television series based on My Little Pony franchise by Bonnie Zacherle. The series was developed by Lauren Faust and it was first aired on Discover Family (formerly known as The Hub) from October 10, 2010 to October 12, 2019. The series follows a story of an intelligent and studious unicorn-turned-Alicorn Twilight Sparkle, along with her friends, an energetic and impulsive Pegasi Rainbow Dash, a hardworking yet stubborn Earth pony Applejack, a cheerful and happy-go-lucky Earth pony Pinkie Pie, a shy and kind-hearted Pegasi Fluttershy, a sytlish yet prideful Rarity, and her dragon assistant Spike, are going on adventure through Equestria where they're helping others and solving friendship problems.
Who are they?
Princess Celestia and Luna are the major protagonists of the 2010 American-Canadian animated television series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. They are the former rulers of Equestria before they were replaced by Twilight Sparkle as the new ruler by the end of the series. Celestia was once a mentor and idol to Twilight Sparkle who is responsible for turning her into a Princess of Friendship. Luna was once transformed into a Nightmare Moon who betrayed her own sister out of sheer jealousy and was banished to the moon for thousands of years until she returned and was defeated by the Mane Six and the Elements of Harmony, turning her back into normal and she and Celestia later reconciled.
Why they're no longer qualified?
We all might know that Celestia and Luna are both wise and benevolent monarch who has been protecting Equestria from any threats like Discord or King Sombra for thousands of years and are responsible for guiding Twilight Sparkle into becoming an Alicorn and the Princess of Friendship and for who she is. While they may have been forgiving to each others or anypony like the Mane Six, there is one more thing they shouldn't be so mercy with. That's right, it WAS the Legion of Doom, a villainous team that consists Queen Chrysalis, Lord Tirek and Cozy Glow.
Before we get to move on with them regarding with the Legion of Doom, there's something to discuss about what's missing regarding to Celestia and Luna's reasons why they aren't worth of their PG status. Of course while they may have subverting several of their corrupting factors throughout Seasons 1 to 8, the Season 9 is where few of their moments weren't completely subverted yet, especially in the episodes "Sparkle's Seven" and the two-part penultimate series "The Ending of the End", where I have found these moments to be a mitigating factors that should've stayed upon my rewatch.
In the fourth episode of Season 9 "Sparkle's Seven", there was a disagreement between Celestia and Luna over the castle security matters. Here, they were supposed to set up the security all over the Canterlot Castle by themselves, but Celestia was too prideful and stubborn to work together with Luna that she decide to appoint Shining Armor to handle the job, which Luna upsettingly mutters and complains about it. After that, they later glaring at each other in dismay.
Even after Luna and Spike worked together to sabotage the Sibling Supreme challenge with the former helps teleport the crown right to the latter, I may have think that Luna only strike a deal with Spike in order to get back at Celestia out of spite for not being allowed to work with her instead of just teaching her a lesson, but anyway IDK if this is really genuine or not. Now that Spike and Luna's plans are finally come to light, Celestia only begrudgingly apologized to Luna for not listening to her concerns and then reluctantly agreed to make adjustments to the castle security from both inside and outside in an insincere manner instead of just realized nor accepting her mistakes, but not before they leave with a forced and creepy grin of theirs. So, unlike Twilight and Shining who later made up and honorably declared Spike as the true Sibling Supreme, the episode makes it clear that was the only moment where Celestia and Luna are never made up with their disagreements unlike the episodes such as the two-part series premiere "Friendship is Magic", "Slice of Life", "A Royal Problem", and even "Between Dark and Dawn" (which I have remembered re-watching them before).
Now that their issues in "Sparkle's Seven" are done, we're gonna talk about them regarding with the Legion of Doom in the two-part penultimate series "The Ending of the End". Even though the Legion of Doom were already defeated as they were depowered and turned back to normal after the Mane Six, the Young Six and the Pillars are fired a giant beam of rainbow at them to stop their reign of terror, Celestia and Luna were seen to be ABSOLUTELY furious to the villains as they've had enough of them for their crimes and actions all over Equestria, with the former exclaims "There isn't a punishment worthy of all you've done!" in a vengeful and merciless manner. While they're looking up to both furious Celestia and Luna, you can see the villains are looking terrified of them, riiiight...? (Mechamato reference)
And how about the punishment they have inflicted on the villains? Well, Discord was the one who suggets of turning the Legion of Doom into a stone, which Celestia and Luna may eagerly agreed that it does seem fitting, with the latter says it in agreement. They even allowed Discord to help them before they proceed to turn the Legion of Doom into a stone. As the villains were about to be petrified, you can see that both Cozy and Tirek were still fearful over their fate while Chrysalis attempt to attack the heroes out of full rage on them, meaning that Celestia, Luna and Discord have put them in a Fate Worse Than Death (like Discord who appears to have aware of hearing Celestia's plan of reforming him while he was still petrified in Season 3 episode "Keep Calm and Flutter On"). After the villains were finally turned into a stone, Celestia and Luna only stared at them in anger rather than showing relief that it's finally over, believing they deserved the harsh comeuppance they have delivered.
So yeah, if anyone think the way Celestia and Luna turn the villains into a stone was because they have no other choice since they're too irredeemable and dangerous to be roamed around Equestria, but it's not. Tirek and Cozy were previously imprisoned in Tartarus, but they only escape because of Discord's aid as a part of his plan to boost Twilight's confidence as the current ruler of Equestria. However, the criteria stated that PG heroes only killed the villains out of self-defense or last resort, which the examples are shown like Anne Boonchuy using all three Calamity Gems to sacrifice herself by destroying the Core for good, resulting her in saving Amphibia from being destroyed by it, or Izuku Midoriya, while he may never forgive him for everything he did, eventually sympathized with him over his loneliness rather than seeing him as an irredeemable monster or a "Demon Lord" he wanted everyone to see and giving him an last ember of One For All to allow him to see his brother one last time, but not before destroying him along with Tomura and past AFO users to stop his reign of terror once and for all. So unlike them both, what Celestia and Luna did to the villains is pretty vengeful and merciless for them to count as PG, even if they're already defeated and depowered, which is something that the PG heroes aren't allowed to do.
Anyways, if anyone disagree of what I am describing of their unsubverted mitigating factors, I am fine with that.
Final verdict
We should say goodbye to their PG status of our favorite Equestria rulers, so yeah, weak and simple cut.
