Welcome back with another removal. I should’ve posted this on Thanksgiving since this guy has a food-related Stand oh well. This is a removal on Tonio Trussardi from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure whom was proposed back in 2020 when we were way more lax about Admirable Standards so I thought he could use a removal. I got permission from THNM.
What is the work?
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure doesn’t need much introduction. It’s a popular anime/manga series where different JoJo’s level up in fighting and take on various enemies, be it Vampires or Stand Users. Part 4 is a bit different and revolves around the small town of Morioh, which is threatened by a serial killer named Yoshikage Kira.
Who is he?
Hes a side character in part 4 and a restaurant owner in the town of Morioh, who’s stand lets him make food that has the ability to cure people is sicknesses and boost their mood with his Stand. At first as a joke we are lead to believe he’s this creepy villain but then he turns out to be this totally chill dude.
If you want more details, you can read his page or his original proposal linked above.
Reason for Removal
Tonio is a very nice guy with no corrupting qualities despite what we are initially lead to believe. He has good actions too and very low resources for the series and a unique act of running a restaurant that cures ailments. So what’s the problem here?
Tonio barely does anything honestly. His actions are utterly standard as all he does is give people food to cure their sicknesses. It doesn’t really go beyond just making them healthier and puts them in a good mood. It never saves any lives. I don’t think simply making people healthy is enough for the Pure Good baseline and he doesn’t do anything else like stop a villain (he was technically part of the group tracking down the serial killer Yoshikage Kira but it was shared with like 15 other people and he had hardly any important role.) And this is a show with an extremely high admirable standard where multiple people save entire countries, cities or the entire world. Most of these characters have higher resources and stand powers, yes, but it still affects the admirable standard. I don’t think low resources is an excuse when high-scale admirable acts are just super common in the franchise.
It’s not even just characters with higher resources who give issue for Tonio standing out in my opinion. Other characters do way more with lower resources like
- Speedwagon is a thug who helps Jonathan stop DIO and used his own two hands to make an entire world-saving business that stops Pillar Men endangering the world and Joe Foes. He did all this starting from nothing while Tonio runs a successful restaurant so Speedwagon has less resources.
- Hayato is a lil kid who played a massive role and even endangered his own life to stop a serial killing.
- Poco is a lil kid who gives Jonathan a sword to stop a dangerous vampire.
The proposal uses the argument that Tonio’s act of healing people is “unique” which lets him stand out but simply being unique isn’t enough in my opinion and he’s just doing stuff a normal doctor could probably do. Plus the entire Speedwagon foundation dedicates itself to healing people and Josuke heals multiple people throughout the show. Simply being unique isn’t enough in my opinion if the actions aren’t that great in scale and plot relevance.
Verdict
I think cut with his kitchens knife but up to you.
