Hello everyone! Hope y'all are doing alright! After watching Pokémon 4Ever, I can definitely say that Celebi from Pokémon doesn't qualify as Pure Good. So let's get into it!

WHAT IS POKÉMON? WHAT'S THE WORK?

Pokémon originated as a series of Japanese Role Playing games starting with Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue released in 1996 for the Nintendo Gameboy. The series became a successful series of games and went on to spawn a manga series, an anime series, and a trading card game amongst other misc. merchandise. The games revolve around a young child setting off on a quest to complete the Pokédex, an encyclopedic device used to record data on Pokémon, and become the Pokémon League Champion via defeating 8 trainers known as Gym Leaders and eventually defeating the Elite 4 and the current champion.

WHO IS CELEBI? WHAT HAVE THEY DONE?

Celebi is a rare Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver, the direct sequels to Pokémon Red and Blue, where they were only available for special distribution events and weren't available under normal circumstances. Celebi had a bigger role in the 4th movie based off of the Pokémon anime series, Pokémon 4Ever: The Voice of the Forest. In the movie, Celebi was under attack by a criminal/Pokémon Hunter named the Iron-Masked Marauder. Celebi was rescued by a boy named Sam and the two traveled to the future. Celebi and Sam meet Ash Ketchum and his friends as well as people Sam knew from the past. The Iron-Masked Marauder continues his hunt for Celebi and attacks Celebi, Sam, Ash and the others. Ash and co. fight him off for the moment. Later on, IMM catches Celebi using a device known as a Dark Ball and turns Celebi evil. IMM forces Celebi to destroy the forest and fight against Sam, Ash and co. Sam and Ash manage to reach out to Celebi and remind him of the good times they had together which turns Celebi back to normal, with help from another Legendary Pokémon named Suicune. Celebi gets gravely injured and Ash and Sam try to use the lake, which is capable of reviving Celebi, but that fails, even after Suicune purifies it. Ash and Sam think it's the end, but Celebis from the past and future come and revive Celebi. Celebi and Sam then go back to the past, saying goodbye to Ash and friends.

REASONS CELEBI COULD QUALIFY?

Celebi is the guardian of the forest and protects its inhabitants. Celebi also doesn't have any genuine corrupting factors as everything bad it did was because of mind control.

REASONS CELEBI SHOULDN'T QUALIFY?

First off, Celebi is a species. Not even just in the games. In Pokémon 4Ever, as I mentioned earlier, there were shown to be multiple Celebis. Second, Celebi in general doesn't really do much in the movie, other than protect the forest. And simply protecting the forest isn't really enough to stand out in Pokémon's admirable standard when compared several characters and Pokémon that protect people and Pokémon, main characters and even  one-shot ones. Also, like I said with Mew, it's basically impossible for Celebi to stand out since they don't get nearly as much screen-time as Ash and the others and don't have as many good actions.

FINAL VERDICT?

Celebi doesnt qualify for the same reasons Mew doesn't. They don't do much in the film, they don't stand out in the series compared to countless characters from the show and other movies, or have as much screen-time as several other characters from the show. But I'm interested in everyone else's opinions down below. As always, thanks for reading and have a great day!
