King of Red Lions

So this character currently does not have a Moral Scaling Ranking, but I'm convinced that he qualifies for Pure Good. However, this might be controversial.

Meet The King of Red Lions.

What's The Work?

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is the 10th main installment in Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series. It follows Link and the King of Red Lions on their quest to save the Great Sea from Ganondorf and the Helmaroc King.

Who Is He/What Has He Done?

The King of Red Lions (Also known as King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule) Is the deuteragonist of The Wind Waker. He is Link's companion and boat.

He first appears after Link is thrown out of the fortress by the Helmaroc King. He takes him to Windfall Island and teaches him about Ganondorf and the Helmaroc King, and informs him that he needs a sail. When Link gets the Sail from Zunari, he takes him to Dragon Roost Island. They then travel to Forest Haven, and later to Greatfish Isle.

When they encounter Jabun, he speaks on Link's behalf before taking him to put the 3 pearls in place and to the Tower of the Gods. When Link obtains the Master Sword, the duo return to the Forsaken Fortress to rescue Aryll and defeat Ganondorf. When he discovers that the Master Sword is powerless, he takes Link and Tetra to Hyrule Castle and reveals his and Tetra's true identities (King Daphnes and Princess Zelda, respectively). He advises Tetra to stay below Hyrule where Ganondorf will not find her, and helps Link to restore the Master Sword Power by Bringing Makar and Medli to the Wind and Earth temples, respectively.

After this quest is completed, he and Link reassemble the Triforce of Courage and travel back to Hyrule. When Link meets Ganondorf atop his tower, he crosses the Goodness Zone by wishing for Hyrule to be washed away so there could be a future. After Ganondorf's death, he sympathizes with him and bids Link and Tetra farewell, choosing to die with his kingdom out of honor and respect.

Admirable Standards

While he certainly isn't the most admirable character in the franchise, most of the heroes he would fail the standard to (Such as Link, Hylia and Zelda) have higher resources than him, so comparing him to said heroes wouldn't be fair, especially considering the three aforementioned heroes are not only some of the most powerful heroes, but also some of the most powerful characters, period.

Corrupting Qualities

This might be controversial.

Now while you could argue that he has some arrogant moments like unintentionally startling Link and chuckling about it, this is very brief and does nothing to detract from his heroism.

As for making that wish with the Triforce, it's worth noting that while Ganondorf was trying to restore the kingdom to its former glory, this was only for his own convenience, and he still fully intended to plunge the kingdom into darkness, which would've caused untold amounts of damage. It's also worth noting that by doing this, he inadvertently stopped Bellum from taking over the World of the Ocean King.

Final Verdict

An easy yes from me.
