A Removal Proposal for King Hubert from Sleeping Beauty, surprisingly, he is under the PG category, but I'm offering evidence to show he does not fit under it.
What is the Work?[]
Sleeping Beauty is an animated Disney Film about a young princess named Aurora who is taken into hiding by the fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather after the evil sorcereress Maleficent places a curse on her in which before her 16th birthday ends, she will be lured to a spinning wheel and prick her finger, resulting in her death.
Maleficent eventually finds Aurora's whereabouts when her crow henchmen stumbles upon the fairies fightings and unintentionally revealing Aurora's identity the process. The fairies place a special spell on the kingdom that makes her fall into a deep sleep, giving a chance for Prince Phillip to revive her.
After being imprisoned by Maleficent and then escaping, Phillip battles Maleficent, who turns into a dragon to kill him, but he manages to succeed when his sword pieces her heart.
Phillip wakes Aurora from her death-like state and the kingdom recovers.
Who is He, What Has he done?[]
King Hubert is the king of a neighboring kingdom bordering Aurora's, the father of Prince Phillip, and the long time best friend of Aurora's father King Stefan. It is implied that he knew Stefan since the two were young, and the two agreed that their children would be married upon the coming of age.
16 years later, Hubert visits Stefan and begins to question Phillip's decision to want to marry a peasant girl (whom he is unaware is Aurora). Upon realizing who the peasant girl is, he then becomes confused before accepting the fact that Aurora and the peasant girl are one in the same.
Why He Does Not Qualify?[]
His screen time and actions are very minimal in the film. All he basically does is question Phillip's decision to marry Aurora (who he thinks is just a peasant girl initially), as well has having a brief argument and friendly fight with Stefan.
He barely registers as having done anything heroic, let alone on screen.
Final Verdict[]
King Hubert maybe a good, if not somewhat suspicious king, but the lack of actions in the film render him unqualifiable for the PG Category.
