AntMan-EndgameProfile

This is my first PG removal proposal, for Ant-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What's the Work?[]

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a series of 23 films based on characters from Marvel Comics. The Infinity Saga mainly revolves around Iron Man and the Avengers as they fight the intergalactic warlord Thanos to save the universe.

Who Is He?[]

Scott Lang is a former criminal who, while trying to steal a super suit, ends up becoming the protégé of Hank Pym, a former superhero known as Ant-Man, who decides to take Scott under his wing and train him to become the next Ant-Man in order to defeat Yellowjacket. All the while, Scott tries to reconnect with his daughter, Cassie and earn back the trust of his ex-wife.

Why He Doesn't Qualify[]

  • The reason he got arrested in the first place was for breaking into VistaCorp and hacking their servers in order to give back the money they'd been stealing from their customers, which is fine. However, after that, he broke into Geoff Zorick's mansion and stole some of his stuff, and then stole Zorick's car. He didn't have to do that. He'd already gotten justice by giving people's money back, and stealing Zorick's stuff for personal benefit was just overkill.
  • During the events of Ant-Man, he comes into contact with Hank after stealing his suit. He barely even tried trying to live a life free of crime outside of jail, having on!y one job Baskin-Robbins, and after getting fired, quickly decides to go back to crime. This is something that Hank later comments on, noting that the moment life gets tough, Scott turns to crime.
  • In Ant-Man, he's often rude towards Paxton, outright calling him an "asshat" asking Maggie why she got engaged to him, emphasizing Scott's more immature traits.
  • The MCU has an absurdly high admirable standard, which Scott completely fails when compared to heroes like Captain America or even Black Panther, who both save the world in their own standalone films, (with Cap saving the world even more in the first two Avengers movies), whereas Scott's standalone movies tend to have low stakes, and while he did help a lot in Endgame, the original Avengers did much more than him.

Final Verdict[]

Scott's a good guy, but as for pure good, I say cut.
