Rejected
Prince Philip

During the recent discussion on Aurora, a couple of people pointed out that Prince Phillip was more deserving of the Pure Good category. So without further ado, I've decided to nominate him.

Who is he an what has he done?[]

Philip is the son and heir of King Hubert and the love interest of Aurora. He first meets her at her christening, being understandably none too pleased to hear he's expected to marry her in the future. They meet again 16 years later, with neither of them having any idea who the other is, and fall in love. Phillip goes to see Aurora later that night and ends up captured by Maleficent. The three fairies break him out of prison and their leader Flora gives Phillip the Sword of Truth, which he uses to fight his way through Maleficent's forces (including Maleficent herself after she turns herself into a dragon) and wakes Aurora from her magical sleep with love's first kiss.

Admirable Zone[]

Unlike his love interest, Phillip stands out as sufficiently heroic, what with fighting Maleficent's forces to get to Aurora in order to revive her. In "Aurora and the Helpful Dragon", when Aurora finds Crackle the Dragon and decides to take him home, Phillip consents despite his prejudice against dragons and even treats Crackle kindly.

Corrupting factors[]

The closest thing he has to a corrupting factor is killing Maleficent in her dragon form, but that's justified as self-defence as she had him cornered at the edge of a cliff. The series Sofia the First gave him a prejudice against dragons, but that's understandable given his experience with dragons, and he overcomes it by the end.

The final verdict[]

I have a feeling he will be approved.
