Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well! Following my Pure Good Removal Proposal for Gardevoir, we have Vulpix who's also from the Pokémon series and currently has the Pure Good category. I don't think they should and today I'm here to explain why. So let's get started!

WHAT IS POKÉMON? WHAT'S THE WORK?[]

Pokémon is a Japanese media franchise that started off as a series of Japanese Role-Playing video games. The series would later become popular from the spin-off anime series, manga series, and trading card game. The original video games titled Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue were released in 1996 for the Gameboy handheld console. A "Director's cut" of sorts was released 3 years later and was a loose tie-in to the Pokémon anime. The plot of the games revolved around a young boy embarking on a journey to collect as many Pokémon as they could, and to become the greatest Pokémon Trainer in the Kanto region. The player is given a device known as a Pokédex, which records data on captured Pokémon. There are a total of 151 Pokémon in the original Pokémon video games which take place in the Kanto region.

WHO IS VULPIX? WHAT HAVE THEY DONE?[]

Vulpix is Number 37 in the Kanto Pokédex and one of the 12 Fire-Type Pokémon in the games as well as one of the 10 purely Fire-Type Pokémon in the games. If an item known as a "Fire Stone" is used on Vulpix, they will evolve into a Pokémon known as Ninetales. Vulpix and Ninetales recieved different variants known as "Alolan Vulpix" and "Alolan Ninetales" respectively. These forms were the forms of those Pokémon that originated in the Alolan Region, where the 2016 Pokémon video games Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon took place. Alolan Vulpix's type was changed to the Ice-Type, and Alolan Ninetales's typing was changed to the Ice-Type as well as the Fairy-Type. Vulpix is also remembered as one of the Pokémon that belonged to a Pokémon Trainer named Brock in the anime. It was given to him by his idol Suzie in the episode of the Pokémon anime, "Pokémon Fashion Flash".

REASONS VULPIX COULD QUALIFY?[]

Brock's Vulpix is shown to be very kind and loyal to him. They have also helped the heroes stop Team Rocket on many occasions.

REASONS VULPIX SHOULDN'T QUALIFY?[]

Firstly, while Vulpix's Heroes Wiki page does mainly focus on Brock's Vulpix, Vulpix is still an entire species and can't be generalized as one Pure Good hero. Secondly, most of Vulpix's heroic acts were mainly done because of what Brock told them to do. Brock's Vulpix hasn't shown to be able to make their own decisions. Third of all, Brock's Vulpix actually does have corrupting factors, such as the time Vulpix attacked Misty by blasting her with fire for no apparent reason. Brock's Vulpix doesn't quite stand out in the series either. It basically does as much as any other Pokémon in the show, and there are even Pokémon, such as Ash's Butterfree, that do more than Vulpix and have less corrupting factors.

FINAL VERDICT[]

Brock's Vulpix and Vulpix in general should not qualify but I'm interested to see everyone else's opinions in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading and have a great day!
