My 8th Pure Good Proposal (and the 2nd female one) - Valka from How To Train Your Dragon.
What's the work?[]
How To Train Your Dragon is an animated fantasy film series based on the books of the same name. It takes place in Viking times on the island of Berk, beginning with their conflicts against Dragons and how a young Viking, Hiccup, would befriend a dragon named Toothless and bring peace between Vikings and Dragons.
Who is she?[]
She is Hiccup's presumed deceased mother. She was presumed to be killed by dragons, but instead befriended them and protected them from Trappers such as Drago Bludvist. Hiccup would eventually meet her again and together they bonded again.
Heroic factor[]
- On Berk, she stopped the people of Berk from trying to kill dragons, believing that peace was possible between humans and dragons.
- Willing to protect baby Hiccup, and when she realised the dragon wasn't attacking him, she didn't fight it.
- Protected and rescued countless dragons from Drago and his Trappers.
- When Drago attacked the Dragon Sanctuary, she tried to save the dragons from them.
Mitigating factors[]
- While she did leave Stoick to raise Hiccup alone, she did it because she thought it would be better for him, and regretfully admitted she was wrong to Stoick.
- She was mistrustful towards humans, believing most people couldn't change due to experience. However, she believed in peace between people and dragons in the first place (unlike in the original script), and she still loved the people of Berk, such as Stoick and Gobber. Also after Stoick changed his stance on dragons, she now realised that humans and dragons could be brought together as she told Hiccup that he could bring their worlds together.
