She was portrayed by Morena Baccarin.
Biography[]
Background[]
Vanessa Carysle was born in New York. She had a rough childhood and eventually became a prostitute.
Relationship with Wade Wilson[]
One day, while visiting a bar, she met Wade Wilson and the two eventually began a relationship. A year later, Wade would propose to Vanessa but eventually ended up getting diagnosed with cancer. Desperately trying to save her lover, Vanessa found multiple treatments for Wade. Despite this, the mercenary abandoned her one night and she spent the next few years mourning his loss.
Unknown to her, Wade had actually undergone a procedure that cured his cancer and gave him a healing factor and "super pussy". However, the process had disfigured him, causing the mercenary to have a fear of revealing himself to Vanessa.
Eventually, the people responsible for Wade's procedure, Ajax and Angel Dust, now mortal enemies with the mercenary, learned of Vanessa's existence and kidnapped her. The two then took Vanessa to a decommissioned aircraft carrier in a scrapyard to kill her in an oxygen deprivation chamber.
Determined to rescue her, Deadpool, alongside X-Men members Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, confronted Ajax and his subordinates. After defeating his enemies and saving her, Deadpool revealed his new face to Vanessa who, despite being angry for getting abandoned, accepts him. The two then reconcile and share a kiss.
Death and legacy[]
Vanessa has became proprietary of an orphanage and Deadpool has became a hero who kill lot of criminals, Vanessa say to Deadpool who she will adopt a baby for making a family together and Wade is happy for this, Vanessa talking about their son's name but then criminals enemies of Wade enters in their house and Wade fight with them killing them all, Vanessa is fine, but then the drug lord enters in the house and kills Vanessa, shooting her with a pistol. Angry and sad for Vanessa's death, Wade angrily kills the drug lord but despite having killed the killer, he is still sad and depressed because of Vanessa's death.
Vanessa appears several times in Wade pre-deaths experiences where she incurs him to saving the mutate kid Russell from becoming a evil killer in the future, at the end Wade dies and finishes with her but Vanessa says to him it is not time for him to stay with her and his family, for his friends needs him.
An ambiguous fate[]
In a mid-credits scene Deadpool travel in time with Cable's dispositive and save Vanessa stopping the bullet in time and killing the drug lord in the head, so Vanessa is again alive and the two will have a child, despite he has cancelled Vanessa's death, the events of the film remains who means who the X-Force, the rescue of Russell and Cable would happen even if Vanessa would remains alive, and now Wade and Vanessa are finally together again.
Deadpool & Wolverine[]
In 2018, Deadpool went to the universe of the MCU to apply for the Avengers; he was interviewed by Happy Hogan, who ultimately rejected his application due to his motivation being selfish, as opposed to heroic, and the fact that the only team he had been in previously, X-Force, had most members die. From the rejection, Wade was so depressed that he retired his superhero alias to work as a used care salesman instead.
Wade's melancholy affected his relationship with Vanessa, with his lack of self-worth sabotaging their connection, which resulted in them breaking up, however, they remained in contact as friends.
In 2024, Deadpool was recruited by the TVA, who put him under a middle manager, Paradox, to organise his missions. However, due to learning that his home universe was doomed from the loss of its Anchor Being, which Paradox intended to accelerate with a machine called a Time Ripper, Deadpool went rogue to ensure the safety of his universe, due to it holding the 9 people he considered dearest, which included Vanessa.
When in the Void, Cassandra Nova used her psychic power to meddle in Deadpool's mind to change the memory of his break up with Vanessa into something where she was a lot harsher than what really happened, as well as the dream Vanessa claiming to never love him. Although, this doesn't fool Deadpool, since he knew she was incapable of such cruelty.
Ultimately, Deadpool and a variant of Wolverine he forced into helping him, before becoming friends throughout their struggles, are able to prevent Nova's plan to erase the multiverse, and expose Paradox's corruption to the TVA higher ups.
Wade invited Wolverine, as well as Legacy Heroes that he convinced the TVA to rescue from the Void, to a party to compensate for his interrupted birthday party. Around the table, Wolverine bluntly but helpfully encouraged Wade to reconcile with Vanessa, which was implied to work out, therefore reuniting them as a romantic couple.
Personality[]
In many ways, Vanessa Carysle is a female version of Deadpool, sharing his compassionate, comical, energetic, charming, and lustful traits, and as Ajax pointed out, his snarkiness as well.
Contrary to Deadpool's fears, she wasn't superficial enough to reject him because of his mutation's side effect causing scar tissue all over his body. Vanessa's only issue was the fact that he survived the accident, but hadn't told her sooner; although, she was forgiving enough to only be briefly upset, since she loved him and wished to continue their relationship, rather than dwell on his mistake of secrecy.
She was also fearless as she rushed to stab one of Deadpool's swords into Ajax to prevent her boyfriend's further injury; her bravery was also enhanced by the fact that she had witnessed just how deadly Ajax was during his battle with Deadpool.
