Vanitas, formerly known as Number 69, is the titular main protagonist of the 2015 dark fantasy manga series The Case Study of Vanitas and its 2021 anime television series adaptation of the same name.
He is voiced by Natsuki Hanae in the Japanese version and Zeno Robinson as adult and Cherami Leigh as young in the English version.

Personality[]
He believes the grimoire can restore vampires who have become "curse-bearers" with uncontrolled blood lust due to their name being corrupted. He enlists Noé in his quest.
History[]
He was bitten by the Vampire of the Blue Moon making him part of the Blue Moon clan with some vampire abilities. He inherited his name and the Book of Vanitas from the infamous vampire.
He bursts in and uses The Book of Vanitas to reveal her true name, Florifel, which returns Amelia back to normal. Vanitas reveals that the grimoire removed the malady which is corrupting the names of vampires and causing them to become "curse-bearers" and go berserk. Later in the streets of Paris, Vanitas asks Noé to join him in his quest, but Noé resists and collapses in the street. He and Noé languish in jail following the incident aboard the airship until they are summoned by Count Orlock.
Vanitas and Noé find Thomas Breneux, the vampire from beyond the barrier who is attacking Parisiennes. Noé immobilizes him and while Vanitas uses the grimoire to temporarily calm him. However, the vampires Luca and Jeanne, the Hellfire Witch, arrive and demand the grimoire, believing that it is being used to create the curse-bearers. Noé refuses and Jeanne attacks him with the Crimson Gauntlet, but Noé and Vanitas escape. After hide from Jeanne, Vanitas reveals to Noé that grimoire can be be used to create curse-bearers. Vanitas activates the grimoire to change Thomas Breneux back to his human form, whose real name is Bucolicus. Jeanne still wants to fight Vanitas, but Noé emerges from the shadows holding Luca prisone while Vanitas surprisingly kisses her and declares his love to her.
