Prince Vassago of the Ars Goetia is a minor character in the adult animated black comedy web series Helluva Boss.

Named after the entity of the same name in demon folklore, Vassago is a demon who is a member of the Ars Goetia.

He is voiced by Harvey Guillén, who also voiced Odie in The Garfield Movie, Gabo in Wish, and Perrito in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

Biography[]

While most of Vassago's life in currently unknown, what is known about him is that he had a great love for music and songs who is a proud & powerful figure in Hell, as one of the many members of the elite Ars Goetia, becoming well-acquainted with the prince Stolas while showing disdain for his wife's devious and arrogant brother Andrealphus.

One day, Vassago hears that Andrealphus is calling for a trial against an illegal business (which is saying something considering they live in Hell), which is something he finds very suspicious of him. Regardless, he heads to the courtroom with the rest of the Ars Goetia, except for Stolas, where they all act as the jury while the rulers of Hell's rings: the Seven Deadly Sins (with the exception of the King of Hell himself because he's busy with his own personal things) acting as the judges.

Appearance[]

Like most of the Ars Goetia demons, Vassago is a lanky avian demon that has attributes similar to mortal bird, who takes the form of a humanoid Scarlet Macaw with red feathers, a white face, and a hooked black beak. He also has rather long, gold-tipped purple feathers on the back of his head with a gold-colored streak through the center, and red eyes with no irises or pupils which are often depicted being covered by a pair of yellow visor-shades that vaguely resemble a star or a crown.

In terms of clothing, Vassago wears an outfit that leans closely to that of a magician, red suit-jacket with a gold-trimmed popped-collar, black lapels, a star brooch, a giant "X" and a small star design on the back, and rather long, extravagant tails that are trimmed with black, the top part being purple while the bottom is a gradient of two shades of orange. Over this, he wears a white dress-shirt with two black buttons on the center.

Vassago also wears black pants and white arm-length gloves and white thigh-high high-heeled boots - his gloves having black torn-like cuffs and two red stripes in the front, while his boots have black toes and tips of the heels, as well as an "X" shape on the bottom center.

Personality[]

Vassago is a high-strung and mindful demon within Hell's royal hierarchy, but unlike most of his aristocratic elite peers, he holds the responsibilities of Hell's governance in high regard. As such, he expressed a distaste for unfairness and harm, especially when the matter of Goetia such as Stolas was involved. This was shown during Blitzo's trial when he noted Stolas' absence and advocated that he needed to be brought in, then being genuinely disturbed when Andrealphus accused Blitzo of being responsible for the assassination attempt on Stolas.

In a similar fashion, Vassago expressed great annoyance toward Andrealphus' condescending attitude in his attempt to win the trial against Stolas and I.M.P, even going so far as to rightfully call Andrealphus an arrogant idiot in Spanish for his childish comments to his face.

it’s unknown if Vassago knew Andrealphus set this whole situation up just to get Stolas dethroned, but he looked suspicious during the moments before Blitzø begged Satan to spare his friends and daughter, and after Stolas took the blame.

Vassago has a tendency to slip between English and Spanish in conversations, although he seems to slip into the latter more at times of high emotion. He also seems to have a whimsical taste for music, as he cheered for Stolas presenting his defense in song.

Powers and Abilities[]

Star-themed powers: Like Stolas, Vassago is shown to have powers affiliated with the stars in the sky.
Platform Creation: Vassago can conjure a levitating yellow star-shaped platform for himself to ride around on.
Bilingualism: Vassago is fluent in Spanish and English.
Immortality: As demonic royalty, Vassago is biologically immortal, being able to live for a long period of time and only able to be killed by angelic weaponry.

Trivia[]

According to Vivziepop, Vassago is a "very good boy", which is based on the fact that the demon prince he's based on is said to be one of good nature in The Lesser Key of Solomon.
Prior to his debut appearance in "Mastermind", Vassago made a cameo appearance in the pilot episode of Hazbin Hotel as one of the overlords show during Vaggie's view on Alastor. This was before the decision to retcon him as a member of the Ars Goetia.
Vassago is confirmed to be gay.
Vassago is confirmed to be returning in Season 3, possibly for a bigger role.
Vassago's attire bears a resemblance to Charlie Morningstar's design from the Hazbin Hotel pilot.
