Prince Vassago of the Ars Goetia is a minor character in Season 2 of the adult animated black comedy web series Helluva Boss.

Named after the entity of the same name in folklore, Vassago is a demon who was once one of the numerous Overlords running the Pride Ring of Hell before becoming a member of the Ars Goetia.

He is voiced by Harvey Guillén, who also voiced Odie in The Garfield Movie, Gabo in Wish, and Perrito in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

Biography[]

While most of Vassago's life in currently unknown, what is known about him is that he had a great love for music who slowly rose into a proud & powerful figure in Hell, first as just another one of the many Overlords during the time the mysterious Alas tor quickly rose to power. But he soon gained enough power to become one of the many members of the elite Ars Goetia, and became well-acquainted with the prince Stolas while showing disdain for his wife's devious brother Andrealphus.

One day, Vassago hears that Andrealphus is calling for a trial against an extremely illegal business (which is saying something considering they live in Hell), which is something he finds very suspicious of him. Regardless he heads to the courtroom with the rest of the Ars Goetia, except for Stolas, where they all act as the jury while the rulers of Hell's rings: the Seven Deadly Sins (with the exception of the King of Hell himself because he's busy with his own personal things) acting as the Judges.

Appearance[]

Like most of the Goetias, Vassago is a demon that has attributes similar to mortal bird, who takes the form of a humanoid Scarlet Macaw with red feathers, a white face, and a hooked black beak. He also has rather long, gold-tipped purple feathers on the back of his head with a gold-colored streak through the center, and red eyes with no irises or pupils which are often depicted being covered by a pair of yellow visor-shades that vaguely resemble a star or a crown.

In terms of clothing, Vassago wears an outfit that leans closely to that of a magician, which consists of a red suit-jacket with a gold-trimmed popped-collar, black lapels, a star brooch, a giant "X" on a small star design on the back, and rather long, extravagant tails that are trimmed with black, the top part being purple while the bottom is a gradient of two shades of orange. Over this, he wears a white dress-shirt with two black buttons on the center.

Personality[]

Vassago is a high-strung and mindful demon within Hell's royal hierarchy, but unlike most of his aristocratic elite peers, he holds the responsibilities of Hell's governance in high regard. As such, he expressed a distaste for unfairness and harm, especially when the matter of Goetia such as Stolas was involved. This was shown during Blitzo's trial when he noted Stolas' absence and advocated that he needed to be brought in, then being genuinely disturbed when Andrealphus accused Blitzo of being responsible for the assassination attempt on Stolas.

In a similar fashion, Vassago expressed great annoyance toward Andrealphus' condescending attitude and his attempts to win the trial against Stolas and I.M.P even going so far as to rightfully call Andrealphus an arrogant idiot for his childish comments.

it’s unknown if Vassago knew Andrealphus set this whole situation up just to get Stolas dethroned, but looked suspicious during the moments before Blitzø begged Satan to spare his friends and daughter. And later after when Stolas revealed he let Blitzø have the book for his own benefit of seeing him in exchange for sex.

Powers and Abilities[]

Star-themed powers: Like Stolas, Vassago is shown to have powers affiliated with the Stars in the sky.
Platform Creation: Vassago can conjure a levitating star-shaped platform for himself to ride around on.
Bilingualism: Vassago speaks English and Spanish very fluently.

Trivia[]

According to Vivziepop, Vassago is a "very good boy", which is based on the fact that the demon prince he's based on is said to be one of good nature.
Prior to his debut appearance in "Mastermind", Vassago made a cameo appearance in the pilot episode of Hazbin Hotel as one of the overlords show during Vaggie's view on Alastor.
Vassago is confirmed to be gay.
Vassago is confirmed to be returning in Season 3, possibly for a bigger role.
Vassago's attire bears a resemblance to Charlie Morningstar's design from the Hazbin Hotel pilot.
