To those who hadn't been around Violet long, nothing would have seemed unusual, but those who knew her well knew that when she tied her hair up in a ribbon to keep it out of her eyes, it meant that the gears and levers of her inventing brain were whirring at top speed.
~ Lemony Snicket, "A Series of Unfortunate Events"

Violet Baudelaire is the eldest sibling of the Baudelaire Orphans and the main protagonist in the thirteen book series "A Series of Unfortunate Events".

She is portrayed by Emily Browning in the movie and by Malina Weissman (who also played young April O'Neil in 2014s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) in the Netflix series.

Appearance[]

In the books and Netflix series, Violet is a 14-year-old girl with brown hair. As described in Book the Seventh, she ties her hair up into a ponytail with a hair ribbon.

Personality[]

Violet is very devoted to and protective of her younger brother and sister.

She is also exceptionally intelligent, as shown by her love for inventing. Whenever she decides to begin or resume working on a project, she ties her hair up in a ribbon, so as not to distract her.
