Volcanicus is the recent Autobot combiner & the combined form of the Autobot fearsome team Dinobots. He is a recurring hero in the Transformers franchise. He is created to counter the Decepticons' Predacons & their combined form Predaking, his archenemy, as well as the Decepticons' feral supremacy. The Autobot dinosaur that forms Volcanicus are:
- Grimlock (main body; T-Rex)
- Snarl (left leg; Stegosaurus)
- Swoop (right arm; Pteranodon)
- Slug (left arm; Triceratops)
- Sludge (right leg; Brontosaurus)

At some point after the Great War, the Dinobots gained the ability to combine, presumably due to the Enigma of Combination. In The Swamp, due to believing that Megatron was the one behind the apocalyptic events. After Megatron's team gained the upper hand, the Dinobots combined into Volcanicus.

- The concept of Volcanicus as an Autobot combiner consisted of Dinobots had been previously explored in The Beast Within storyline through his monstrous counterpart The Beast. However, both The Beast and the comic itself were panned by fans for being excessively bleak, more so due to The Beast became an out-of-control berserker as terrifying as his hideous appearance upon being formed which ultimately forced Optimus and Jetfire to put him out of his misery — a contrast to Volcanicus which retains his components' sense of self while just as formidable.
- The manner Volcanicus formed contrasted to The Beast also; whereas the latter depicted Dinobot components painfully and literally tore themselved apart while reforming into a crude-looking bigger robot complete with exposed wiring, the former had Dinobot components reconfigure into the Combiner's parts during assembling process like traditional Combiners do.
