The Volcano Papa (火山老爺) is the supporting character of Brave Animated Series, based on the comic Brave Series (勇者系列) by Yellow Book. He is a pragmatic Demon elder and a complex figure who prioritizes the welfare of his small community above the grand ideological conflicts of the world.

He is voiced by Taiwanese dubbing actor Hu Chen Hsih, who also voiced Flame Hot Dog in the same series.

Story[]

Volcano Papa was once a feared warrior among the Demon clan, a "good fellow" who boasts of having slain many Braves in his prime. However, he has since settled down and established a small village within the Demon Territory, where he now lives a quiet life making and selling popular popped rice (爆米香). Despite his change in profession, he remains the de facto guardian of his territory.

Appearance[]

Volcano Papa resembles a gray volcano, with a crater on his head that emits smoke and lava. His face features a thick gray beard, a mouth, and yellow eyes. He wears martial arts black pants with a brown rope tied around his waist. The characters 'F' and '山' (meaning abbreviated 'fire' and 'mountain' in Chinese) are on his chest.

Personality[]

Volcano Papa is defined by his fiercely protective nature and a pragmatic, world-weary outlook.

Community First - His primary motivation is the safety of his villagers, whom he regards as family. He doesn't hesitate to hire powerful protectors (like Fire Demon's Trio) or engage in battle himself when a threat—even from high-level —arises.
Cynical Idealist - Having fought in the past, he is skeptical of both Morewant's aggressive plans and the Flame Demon's path to peace. He believes he is "just doing what he wants to do" and makes no claim to moral superiority, suggesting a deep understanding of the moral ambiguity of war.
Traditional - He holds onto the memories of his formidable past, yet finds contentment in his simple life as an entrepreneur and community elder, demonstrating a desire for peace and stability over conquest.
