The Voltes Team is the titular main protagonistic group of the anime series Voltes V. They are consisted of Professor Kentaro Goh's three children: Kenichi, Daijiro and Hiyoshi, as well as Ippei Mine and Megumi Oka to pilot Goh's invention, the giant robot Voltes V in order to combat the Boazanian forces to save the Earth from their invasion. They are led by Kenichi and supported by Goh's wife, Mitsuyo and Professor Hamaguchi.
Biography[]
Many years prior, after getting the throne usurped by his cousin Zu Zambajil, the Boazanian prince La Gour led a coup against him, but was defeated and fled to Earth. There he met and married Mitsuyo Goh and immigrated with human society as Professor Kentaro Goh, and they had three children: Kenichi, Daijiro and Hiyoshi. Knowing that Zu Zambajil would invade Earth, Goh invented the giant robot Voltes V, considered to be his greatest invention, with the assistance of his wife and Professor Hamaguchi. Goh would later return to Boazania to convince Zu Zambajil not to invade other planets, but the Emperor refused to listen and imprisoned him.
A decade later, Zu Zambajil launches an invasion on Earth led by his nephew and Goh's son back in Boazania, Prince Heinel, in hopes to conquer it to get more slaves for the Empire. The Boazanian forces easily slaughter the Earth's forces and destroy many cities, forcing the survivors to retreat. As a result, Mitsuyo and Hamaguchi summon Kenichi, Daijiro and Hiyoshi alongside two new members, Ippei Mine and Megumi Oka to the fortress Big Falcon to pilot the Voltes V, forming the Voltes team. From then on, Kenichi leads the team to fight Boazanian's forces to protect Earth from them and eventually learns of their father's true origin.
Eventually, the Voltes V and Big Falcon, which is in fact a flying starship, arrive to Boazania and free Professor Goh, before the Voltes team convince the Boazanians about Zu Zambajil's tyranny. As a result, the Boazanians aid the team to fight against him, while his loyalists run away. During their final confrontation, Heinel realizes that he is in fact Kenichi, Daijiro and Hiyoshi's half-brother, and that his uncle is just an usurper. Thus he kills Zu Zambajil before sacrificing himself to save Kenichi from the fire that is engulfing the castle due to Zu Zambajil's grenade, which the latter accidentally dropped when Heinel killed him. Afterwards, Goh goes by his real name La Gour again and is finally crowned as the Emperor of Boazania. The Voltes team then bid a goodbye to him before returning to Earth, knowing that they will meet again someday.
