Vox Machina are the titular main protagonists of the adult animated fantasy series The Legend of Vox Machina, based on campaign one of the Dungeons & Dragons web series Critical Role.

They are a legendary band of heroes who are known for fighting against various villains and other threats in order to protect and save the continent of Tal'Dorei.

Biography

Background

The members of Vox Machina met each other separately before banding together as an adventuring party. By the time they first appear, they have already been adventuring together for about a year and have established a reputation for themselves, though they are not particularly well-respected.

Season 1

Terror of Tal'Dorei

Vox Machina were hired by Sovereign Uriel Tal'Dorei and his government to deal with an unknown monster ravaging outlying villages and military outposts. This was done out of desperation, since the monster had already killed much more established parties. Vox Machina survived their first battle with the monster, which they found to be the blue dragon Brimscythe. They later discovered that Brimscythe had disguised himself as General Krieg, killed him in his lair, and unmasked his deception. For this heroic deed they were welcomed into Emon's high society and given a castle, Greyskull Keep.

Trivia

• Their name in latin means "voice machine", which is a reference to the fact that their creators are professional voice actors.
• In the original campaign, there was another member named Tiberius Stormwind played by Orion Acaba, who left the cast of Critical Role. Because of this, Tiberius wasn't featured or mentioned in the series.
• The running joke of both campaign and the show is Vox Machina having problem with doors, which sometimes ends up with at least one of the members getting hurt.
