“ | No. Rise, my sons. I am your father, not your king. We do not kneel in fealty. Kneeling is an act of respect. It is a tribute that must be earned. And you have earned it. Your sacrifices to save the people of the Taras Division will be remembered forever. You performed what was impossible and made the sacrifice without hesitation, knowing your task doomed you, and that it was thankless. But I give you my thanks now. | „ |
~ Vulkan as he kneesl to his Legion in gratitude for their selfless heroism. |
Lord Vulkan, also known as the Lord of Drakes and the Unbound Flame, is a major character in the grimdark science fantasy franchise Warhammer 40,000.
Vulkan was one of the twenty Primarchs created by the Emperor of Mankind to serve as the commanders of his Space Marine Legions. He was the Primarch of the Salamanders Legion and was the only one of the Emperor's son to inherit the powers of a perpetual, making him completely immortal. Vulkan was known for his compassion and humility, traits that were a rarity within the Imperium of Man. Though assumed dead by much of the Imperium, the Salamanders believed that their Primarch would return to lead them in the End Times.

Personality[]
As Primarchs are the greatest represenation of their Legions, Vulkan is one of the most selfless and heroic warriors in the entire Imperium of Man. Forged in the brutal, fiery environment of Nocturne, Vulkan is a hearty and mighty man and one of the greatest blacksmiths the galaxy has ever seen. He is full of compassion and drive to protect the innocent, as it is always the major objective of Salamanders to ensure the safety of civilians and to protect them at all costs. Vulkan loves, and is beloved by his sons, as the Salamanders are one of the extremely few Space Marine Legions that not only allow, but actively encourage its warriors to stay in contact and visit their families often. This has created an unbreakable bond between Primarch and Astartes, and while the Salamanders are gentle giants towards the innocent, like their father, their rage can be great and fearsome should any harm be directed at those under their care.
