Wade Heston is the anti-heroic deuteragonist in the 2009 videogame Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
Biography[]
Heston is an undercover detective with the LCPD who unexpectedly becomes a friend and ally of Huang Lee.
Wade Heston is heavily monitored by the Internal Affairs Division for substance abuse and corruption allegations. He claims that he needs one good bust to protect himself from the organization, and first meets Huang Lee when the latter and Chan Jaoming escape a drug deal in Northwood that was ambushed by the Spanish Lords. Heston and several officers corner Huang. Heston reveals his awareness of Huang's acts ever since Huang's in Liberty City, and offers to partner up. Though his jobs are 'legally sensitive' and often get each other into arguments, while also endangering Huang, Heston keeps his promise. Heston had considered quitting without making his bust until after he realized the IAD is onto him while they're pulling antics, both men being deceived by Heston's informant. Heston and Huang eventually find Kenny responsible for both accusing the innocent triad underbosses and the theft of Yu Jian sword and confront him. The two hunt him down after authorities corner everyone. Huang kills Kenny after a long chase, and Heston gets his bust as anticipated, while sparing Huang from prison.
Heston often makes up false claims about his life, claiming that they are more interesting than what really happened (his wife was killed/divorced but really cheated on him with his best friend). He often goes on about how they should make a movie about his life.
