Wade Ripple is the deuteragonist of Pixar's 27th animated full-length feature film Elemental.

He is a water elemental whose job is to inspect various settlements within Element City for the sake of the city's maintenance. One of them is the Lumen family's Fireplace business, which started of the main conflict of the film in the first place through a mixture of elemental differences, and his and Ember's numerous tensions.

He is also the son of Brook Rippe and his father, the younger brother of Alan Ripple, the older brother of Lake Ripple, the brother-in-law of Eddy Ripple, the nephew of Uncle Harold, the uncle of Marco and Polo Ripple, and the love interest of Ember Lumen.

He is voiced by Mamoudou Athie, who also played Ramsay Cole in Jurassic World: Dominion.

Physical appearance[]

Wade has a translucent blue body, short legs, slender body, hair that resemble waves top on the head that are a little to the left, light blue eyes, and cyan eyebrows. He has a purple shirt with dark purple and white sleeves and a little water droplets pattern.

As a worker, he has yellow polo shirt with purple necktie with light blue accents.

Personality[]

Wade is an emotional and sympathetic individual. Appropriately for the watery person that he is, Wade is prone to tears, and as a person made out of water, he is very sensitive and full of good heart.

He is best described as kind, innocent, sweet, caring, honest and loyal. He was going to work as a pipe inspector, as well as his "food inspection" role was something he lied in earnest, and was gonna have fun with not letting everything go about Ember’s relationship, but happens to be thoughtful of her after seeing how Ember Lumen felt about her struggles and conflicts with her family and her dad's shop, which means Wade was heroic and cautious enough to save Ember from drowning.

He also redeemed himself from being considered a "jerk" in his first introduction, where he started off as a bit of crybaby and was quite dedicated to the job as a pipe inspector, even when it was rather misguided of him to not take note of what Ember said earlier about not sending a cancellation note to her dad's shop, resulting in Ember chasing after him. But at the end of this conflict, he eventually sympathizes for Ember's worries for her dad's shop, and while saying it clumsily and telling the message in a naive way to the postman tree in the office, Wade was empathetic enough to help Ember not get her dad's shop shut down. He also becomes more pleasant and endearing as the film carries on.

When he goes to Ember and her family's ceremony uninvited, Wade remains thoughtful and honest towards Ember and her family about he feels about her. Being a little too honest about telling Ember's family that he was dating her, and accidentally revealed Ember caused the leak in the Fireplace, all while remaining kind and nice to Ember’s family all the way through. When Ember yelled at him that she didn't love him, due to her being stressed out, Wade, although heartbroken by her words, respects her decision and leaves.

He may be good-hearted, reasonable and loving, but he also has a comical and silly side to his emotional traits. Best known for him struggling to eat fireballs in the same way of trying spicy food, and acting a little goofy while he was dating Ember with bouncing around his belly to showcase his watery abilities.

As a compassionate individual, he has a inner quality of his sympathetic personality with attracting others by inherent force. His powers with cheering on a repressed cloudy basketball player to win in earnest, and then having the trait to charm to Ember Lumen, has created the means of hot and cold; which makes Ember compelled to Wade all the way through.

His body color and physical appearance bears a striking resemblance to Osmosis Jones from the 2001 American animated/live-action full-length feature film of the same name.
Wade is deathly afraid of sponges, due to a bad experience with being absorbed into one when he was a kid and being stuck for hours before he was freed.
