“ | Ah! <player>! I bet you must be surprised to see me in a place like this! That promise that we made back then… Thank you for keeping your end of it. It was really all thanks to you that I could make it this far, <player>. It was only because I lost to you back then that I could become even stronger. I'm sure that you and your Pokémon must have had to overcome a lot, too… To make it all the way here. Right, <player>? Everyone's grown so much… And now we'll get to see just what we all can do. Standing here facing you again gives me chills… …But I won't give up! I won't lose anymore. My Pokémon have given me the courage and strength to fight. I have to win for their sake! So get ready… Here I come! | „ |
~ Wally to the player |
Wally is one of the two rival characters and tritagonist in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, Emerald, and Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the other being Brendan/May.
Appearance[]
Wally has green hair and green eyes. He wears light lavender shirt, light cyan pants, and white and blue shoes. He also holds a light brown bag.
Personality[]
Wally is, at first, shy and hesitant. But later in the game, Wally becomes confident in his skills, having reached from Verdanturf Town all the way to the Victory Road all by himself. Wally is also a grateful person, thanking the player for meeting him and, because of that, he is able to go out often thanks to the player.
History[]
In the games[]
Wally first enters the Petalburg City Gym to ask Norman, the Gym Leader, to help him catch a Pokémon. Norman asks his child, the player, to help Wally and lets him borrow a Zigzagoon. With the borrowed Zigzagoon, Wally successfully captures a Ralts. After capturing the Ralts, Wally gives the borrowed Zigzagoon back to Norman, thanks the player for helping him, and departs. Wally appears again in Mauville City, wanting to challenge the Gym Leader. He challenges the player to a battle to prove his strength but he loses. Realizing that he's not yet strong enough, Wally leaves for Verdanturf Town with his uncle where he stays for most of the game.
Much later, Wally reaches the Victory Road and approaches the player. Wally, his skills and confidence having improved, challenges the player to a battle. Though he loses, Wally promises to improve his skills further so he can match the player's skills and challenge the Pokémon League. Wally stays in the Victory Road for the rest of the game, where the player can occasionally have a rematch with him.
