~ Walter Jr. talking to Walt about his behavior. |
Walter Hartwell White Jr., commonly known as simply Walt Jr. or Junior, and also by his nickname Flynn, is a major character in the crime drama series Breaking Bad. He is a high school sophomore with cerebral palsy living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the son of Walter White and Skyler White, the older brother of Holly White, and the nephew of Marie and Hank Schrader.
He was portrayed by RJ Mitte.
Heroic Acts[]
- Before discovering the truth about his father, Walt Jr. always showed his support for Walt and his cancer condition.
- After Walter White disappears, he makes missing posters and sets out to find his father.
- He creates a donation site for his father's cancer treatment, although Saul Goodman and Walt Sr. used the site to launder money without his knowledge.
- He faithfully supports his father during the divorce, believing that he never did anything wrong.
- He takes care of his father after being beaten by Jesse.
- He is also shown to be a loving brother to Holly, playing with her regularly.
- After discovering the truth about his father (who was a murderous drug dealer) and Hank's death, a fight between Skyler and Walt Sr. over a knife occurs, in which Walt Jr. intervenes to protect his mother and calls the police.
- Later, Walter tries to offer illegal money to Walt Jr. over the phone, but he denies the money and wishes him dead.
Personality[]
Despite his disability, Walt Jr. doesn’t let it define him and tries to live like a typical teenager. He frequently experiences identity crises and occasionally wants to be called "Flynn," especially after learning the truth about his father. Generally, he comes across as kind and friendly, though he can sometimes appear arrogant in the series.
While Walt Jr. is usually kind and admirable, there are moments when he displays arrogance and rudeness. For instance, he calls his mother a "b-tch" and tells his father to "die already." However, his respect for his parents grows as the series progresses, especially during significant moments, such as when Walt buys him a new car temporarily or when he works alongside his mother at the "A1 Car Wash." The addition of his younger sister, Holly, has also brought out a positive side in Walt Jr. as a brother.
However, his life takes a devastating turn after discovering that his father is a drug dealer. The trauma intensifies with the death of his uncle, Hank Schrader, the violent altercation between his parents—where Walt nearly kills Skyler and Walt Jr. steps in to defend her—the kidnapping of his sister before she is safely returned, and the loss of the White family home where he grew up. These events inflict deep pain and misery on Walt Jr., ultimately leading him to sever ties with his estranged father, wanting nothing more to do with him.
