Joachim Nokianvirtanen, better known as Welt Yang and formerly known as the First Herrscher or the Herrscher of Reason, is a supporting character in the 2016 science fantasy action role-playing mobile game Honkai Impact 3rd and a playable major character in its 2023 turn-based tactical role-playing video game spin-off sequel Honkai: Star Rail.
He is the current "Sovereign" of Anti-Entropy, and the "First Herrscher" (otherwise known as the "Herrscher of Logic/Reason"). Following the death of Welt Joyce, he acquired the Core of Reason and became the next 1st Herrscher. Afterwards, he engaged in multiple long battles with Sirin, the Herrscher of the Void. During the events of A Post-Honkai Odyssey, Welt retired from being the Anti-Entropy sovereign and took the job of an animation storyboards artist.
He serves as a deuteragonist in Honkai Impact 3rd's "Second Eruption" manga, the open world "A Post-Honkai Odyssey", the main protagonist of its accompanying manga "Alien Space", and a deuteragonist in Honkai Star Rail. His alternate universe version served as the main antagonist of the game's story mode Chapter XI.
He was voiced by Peng Bo in the Chinese language, and Yoshimasa Hosoya in the Japanese language. Corey Landis provided the English voice in Honkai: Star Rail.
Appearance[]
Welt is a middle-aged man has dark brown spiky hair and red eyes along with matching glasses. His outfit consists of a white shirt, a gray longcoat, and a long, matching scarf.
In both Honkai: Star Rail and the "A Post-Honkai Odyssey" arc, Welt has a white stripe on his hair. While he wore a similar outfit, albeit much intricate, he also carries a cane with him.
Personality[]
Welt was initially introduced as being very persistent in his goal of helping as many people as possible and vanquishing the Houkai beasts for good, as a result of his determination to become a hero who would one day save the Earth in honor of his deceased idol Welt Joyce. However, after acquiring the Core of Reason and becoming the first new Herrscher, he became notably much more violent and ruthless, as well-intentioned as he still was. As he started engaging in multiple long and brutal battles with Sirin and began effortlessly and ruthlessly obliterating large amounts of Honkai beasts.

As a teenager, Yang greatly admired Welt Joyce, who was known as the 1st Herrscher man who was in charge of protecting the world.
Later on, the factions of Anti-Entropy and Schicksal officially split out which resulted in a battle occurring. Welt Joyce was seriously injured during the fight, his injuries proving to be life-threating even with emergency treatment. After coming to the realization that his life was coming to an end, Joyce chose to entrust Yang with his Herrscher core, first name "Welt" and responsibility of guarding and protecting the world from threats such as Schicksal and the Honkai beasts. Following this, Yang became the 1st Herrscher of the second generation and the Anti-Entropy Sovereign's successor.
Anti-Entropy Invasion[]
Following St. Freya Academy first being formed by Theresa Apocalypse, Welt enrolled in the school as a history teacher. He had once stated that Kiana Kaslana has 0 points in history, During the second Honkai, Welt had met up with Theresa when Otto Apocalypse rewrote Theresa’s memory shortly afterwards using the power of Phoenix Down. In the process, Otto had also erased any sign of the Anti-Entropy in all literature records to make sure that Theresa wouldn't remember Welt's true identity.
Anti-Entropy Invasion[]
Welt killed Welt Joyce's Copy after being accidently hit by the latter. At the same time, he was thinking about his life as a teacher in the academy. After killing the clone, Welt began vomiting blood.
A Post-Honkai Odyssey[]
Welt retired from being a teacher at the academy and went on to become the president of E.T Studio.During this time was when Cocolia had created a clone of Welt himself. She named it after the family name of Joffrey family: Joffrey Welt Joyce. Welt brought Joffrey to St. Fontaine 8 years later, but his condition is currently unknown after he suffered a mysterious change.

Trivia[]
- Unlike most Herrschers, Welt has never lost his own humanity. He is willing to use his Herrscher powers to protect mankind against the threat of the Honkai.
- He is the second person to inherit the 1st Herrscher's power, the first one being Welt Joyce and the third of which being Bronya.
- Welt is currently the only character from Honkai: Star Rail to be the same iteration as the ones in Honkai Impact 3rd, whereas other characters are mostly alternate-reality versions of an already existing Honkaiverse character.
- While Bronya give the core back to Yang in A Post-Honkai Odyssey, he can't use it ability in Honkai: Star Rail universe because the lack of Honkai energy in this game. Not to mention that using it could be very dangerous to his allies due the energy is very toxic to most people.
