~ Wesley Crusher

Wesley Robert Crusher was a 24th century human male and secondary protagonist introduced in the Star Trek: The Next Generation pilot "Encounter at Farpoint".

He was portrayed by Wil Wheaton.

Biography[]

Wesley was born in 2248 to Jack and Beverly Crusher. Jack was away from home most of the time due to his duties in Starfleet. Jack was killed in the course of a mission while on the USS Stargazer, and his body was brought back home to Wesley and his mother by Jack's friend Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Wesley would not reveal that he was angry at Picard for many years for having survived while his father had died.

At an early age Wesley showed considerable aptitude, and at a young age expressed a desire to join Starfleet. While on the Hood Wesley became friends with William Riker, and asked him many questions about Starfleet. Riker noted this, and further noted that Wesley listened to his responses.

Wesley came on board the Enterprise with his mother, and encountered Picard for the fist time in nearly a decade. When Wesley helped bring the Enterprise back from the edge of the universe, Picard decided to name him an acting ensign.

For the next three years Wesley worked often in engineering or at the conn position before leaving for Starfleet Academy. His promising academy career was sidelined when he participated in a prohibited flight maneuver which led to a reprimand and being held back a year.

Wesley became increasingly disillusioned with Starfleet as his graduation from the academy approached. After the Traveler assisted him to have a vision from his father telling him to follow his own path instead of his father's, Wesley resigned from Starfleet and went off to develop his abilities as a traveler.

A few years later Wesley was present at the wedding of Deanna Troi and William Riker, wearing the dress uniform of a Starfleet Lieutenant. He was assigned as assistant chief engineer of the USS Titan.

SupervisorWesley

Wesley later came into the employ of the Aegis and worked as a Supervisor. As such he traveled through space and time, ensuring that history unfolded the way it should. Traveling to 2024 Earth, he approached Adam Soong's daughter Kore Soong, and recruited her to join the organization as a Supervisor. Wesley noted that she could turn down the offer and live a full, normal life. He told Kore that working as a Supervisor would be rewarding, but that he could not guarantee her safety. Kore accepted Wesley's offer, noting that she had never been safe her entire life. He would then approach by Taking her hand, Wesley and Kore were beamed away to parts unknown.

Alternate Realities[]

In one alternate universe, Wesley had returned to the Enterprise by 2370. By then he was a full lieutenant and was head of security and tactical officer after that universe's Worf was promoted to first officer.

In another alternate reality where Deanna Troi had died in 2368, Crusher had remained in Starfleet, and by 2408 was the Captain of the USS Hood. That timeline was erased when the Admiral Riker of that timeline traveled to 2368 to prevent Troi's assassination.

In Star Trek Online the Mirror Universe provides yet another alternate-reality Wesley who would grow up to become one of the most powerful and dangerous villains in the game, known as the Terran Emperor (later still, the God-Emperor)

Trivia[]

  • Wesley was conceived of by Gene Roddenberry, using his own experiences at the age of 14 as an influence while developing the character.
  • Wesley Crusher is among the most disliked characters in the Star Trek Community for his explicit intellectual attributes out-shunning other characters in difficult situations, so much so the actor even hated playing the character.
