White Lotus Society is a fictional organization within the Mortal Kombat universe. They reside in the Temple of light. They rely on their best warrior Liu Kang, to win the Mortal Kombat tournament. After Shang Tsung's defeat, they are devastated by a tarkata horde, which provokes the ire of Liu Kang who, accompanied by his friend and companion Kung Lao, goes to Outworld, to face Emperor Shao Kahn.
History
The story began after the Great Kung Lao defeated Shang Tsung for the Order of Light. But later on, Liu Kang win the Mortal Kombat tournament.
When Shang Tsung led a group of Outworlders to kill members of this organization to seek revenge on Liu Kang. Shortly after their Outworld challenge, Liu Kang and Kung Lao are returned to Earth for a brief reform treaty of the White Lotus Society before the invasion.
