Hector Ayala, also known as the White Tiger, is a supporting character in the first season of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series Daredevil: Born Again.
He is a vigilante who operates within New York City under the guise of night, his black and white costume, and amulet that grants him superhuman abilities. After he was falsely charged with killing an undercover police officer, he became a client of Matthew Murdock/Daredevil.
He was portrayed by the late Kamar de los Reyes.
Biography[]
Background[]
Hector Ayala was born in Puerto Rico and is a former CPA and military veteran. He would become the vigilante White Tiger after obtaining the Amulet of Power. He gained public recognition alongside Daredevil and was caught on camera stopping a robbery in 2025.
Daredevil: Born Again[]
In 2026, Ayala intervened when Nicky Torres was attacked in a subway station. During the fight, one of the assailants, Kel Shanahan, accidentally fell in front of a train and died. The other attacker, Powell, revealed himself as an NYPD officer and arrested Ayala, blaming him for Shanahan’s death.
While in custody, Ayala was pressured to confess but was defended by attorney Matt Murdock. Murdock and Kirsten McDuffie represented him, but Ayala was denied bail and sent to Ryker’s Island, where he was attacked by both guards and inmates. Murdock later discovered Ayala’s identity as White Tiger, which complicated his defense.
During the trial, Torres, intimidated by police, falsely testified that he was never assaulted. With no other options, Murdock revealed Ayala's identity in court. Evidence of his heroism helped convince the jury to declare him not guilty. However, Wilson Fisk opposed the verdict, reinforcing his anti-vigilante stance. Later, while patrolling as White Tiger, Ayala was murdered by Cole North wearing Frank Castle's emblem under orders of Wilson Fisk.
