Willie the Wale is the main protagonist of the 1946 Disney short film, The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met, a segment of the 1946 animated film, Make Mine Music.
Willie was a normal whale; except he loved to sing and had a divine voice and sang to all sailors. In particular Tetti-Tatti believed that Willie had devoured an opera singer, and with three sailors to "save the singer in danger" to make them perform.
Whitey the Seagull, brings a newspaper to Willie where it is written that he is now a really famous singer with great excitement of the other sea creatures, who start singing for joy.
After the three sailors becomes singing, no longer killing him, but just listening to him, Tetti-Tatti becomes hysterical and tries to do it himself, but is blocked by the three sailors from the harpoon, still thinking that he had devoured three singers.
In a Tetti-Tatti he seems to change his mind (playing in Aida), but then shoots the harpoon killing Willie, and at first Tetti-Tatti is beaten followed to death by mariners.
Whitey, he mourned the death of his friend while his spirit went to heaven, however it may be that Willie is happy and sings in heaven with his dream finally come true.
