The World Ninjas are a class of ninjas in Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya. They are fighters from around the world who are trained in the ninja arts, many of whom originate from outside Japan. While some World Ninjas are evil, many are heroic. The protagonist of the series, Toha Yamaji/Jiraiya, is often referred to as a World Ninja.
History[]
In ancient times, a time capsule from space known as the "Pako" landed in Japan. The capsule contained immense riches and an energy source said to be equivalent to the power of the sun. To guard it from misuse, Prince Shoutoku ordered that it be transported to a secret location, with the only clue to where it was being an enscription on a clay tablet that was guarded by the Togakure school.
In modern times however, a number of World Ninjas would come to Japan seeking to challenge the Togakure school for the board. While some sought to use the Pako for benevolent intentions, others desired to claim the Pako for selfish reasons. The Sorcerers Clan, who had stolen half the board containing the Pako's location, called the World Ninjas to Japan to challenge the Togakure school for possession of the Pako, hoping to use the resulting chaos to swoop in and obtain the board's other half so they could keep the Pako all to themselves. In response, Toha Yamaji would step up to become World Ninja Jiraiya of the Togakure school and defend the Pako from those who would seek to misuse it. Along the way, Toha would make friends with many World Ninjas who also sought to use the Pako for benevolent purposes.
The fight over the Pako reached its head when the Pako was finally unearthed and discovered to be a sentient energy being who had defected from the Dark Star and was now being sought after by them for its betrayal. A battle thus commenced between the World Ninjas allied with Jiraiya, who sought to allow Pako to return to space, and the Sorcerers Clan and their World Ninja allies, who were still seeking to obtain the Pako even in spite of this revelation. The conflict came to an end when the Pako returned to space and the Sorcerers Clan was defeated by Jiraiya and the World Ninjas.
