~ Wren's final words. |
Wren is a supporting character in the AMC Series Into the Badlands.
She is a Bowler Clipper serving the Widow in the war for the Badlands against Baron Chau. After losing one of her legs and believing the Widow had abandoned her and other Clippers to die on the front lines, she stages a coup alongside fellow Bowler Arthur in order to take over the Widow's territory and force an armistice to put an end to the war immediately.
She was portrayed by Tamsin Topolski.
Personality[]
Wren is initially presented as a courageous individual, willingly going into battle in "Sniper Ally" despite knowing how many people have died trying to get through the checkpoint. After being shot in the leg by one of the Sniper's poisonous arrows, she faces her death with courage, and is grateful to Bajie for comforting her when she knows she is going to die. After Bajie saves her life by having her leg removed, she angrily curses him for forcing her to continue living in a world where she can no longer fight. After this, she becomes enraged at the loss of support from the Widow, prompting herself and fellow Bowler Arthur to attempt their coup. During this, she ruthlessly executes anyone who is still loyal to the Widow, showing how far gone she has become. As she faces execution by the Widow, her last request asks the Widow to end the war like she always promised, showing that what Wren really wanted was to stop the violence.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Martial Arts/Swordsmanship: Wren is a capable warrior, being able to fight on the front lines effectively as a Bowler Clipper for the Widow, and still shows some skill even after losing her leg and having to replace it with a prosthetic.
- Archery: Wren went into Sniper Ally with a crossbow, suggesting some level of skill with it, and after the loss of her leg it becomes her primary form of offense.
Trivia[]
- Wren is the only named female Bowler in the series, despite female Clippers in the Widow's territory usually being known as Butterflies, and serving as the Widow's personal bodyguards. However, Wren at one point mockingly calls the Widow "mother" which is a term used by the Butterflies, implying Wren may have originally been a Butterfly before becoming a Bowler.
