Yamato Ishida (Matt Ishida) is the tritagonist of Digimon Adventure.

He is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa in the Japanese version and AJ Beckles in the English version.

Appearance[]

He look like his original counterpart. Unlike original Matt, he wears new clothes.

History[]

After Taichi and Greymon beats Argomon, they notice Yamato Ishida riding Garurumon atop a huge tower. Yamato joins Taichi and Koshiro on their mission to stop the Argomon hacking into the U.S. military. On their way there, they learn that one of the American nuclear submarines are hijacked and a nuclear missle is about to be launched. Yamato then comes with an idea to defeat it, but claims that it could put their Digimon at risk as well. Taichi convinces them that they must try it and they have both Greymon and Garurumon firing point blank at the enemy. However, the Argomon evolves even more and the missle is launched. Despite knowing from Koshiro that the missile's target is Tokyo, both Taichi and Yamato are willing to keep fighting, and when their younger siblings Hikari and Takeru come in contact with a mysterious power, both Greymon and Garurumon fuse into Omegamon.

Taichi tells Yamato and others that he and WarGreymon will stay and fight Mugendramon so that the others can escape in the meantime. Both Taichi and WarGreymon over to Cloud Continent with explosive force. The rest of the children helplessly watch not knowing whether Taichi and WarGreymon are still alive.

His Japanese Voice Actor, Daisuke Namikawa also voices Fai D. Flowright from Tsubasa Chronicle, Daigo Nishijima from Digimon Adventure tri., Goemon Ishikawa XIII from Lupin the Third, Yashiro Isana from K and Yu Narukami from Persona 4.
His English Voice Actor, A.J. Beckles also voices Lui Ohwada in Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning.
In the original version Matt had a sleeveless shirt. But in the Reboot, he has a short sleeved shirt.
In “Out on the Town” from the original version, where He along with his little brother T.K. Takaishi & Gabumon were Dressed up by Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon, Matt had a purple scarf on him resembling the color of the Shirt he wears in the reboot.
Unlike his original counterpart, he does not have a large rivalry with Tai, nor does he depart from the team for a period of time.
