Yang, also known as Experiment 502, is an illegal genetic experiment created by Jumba Jookiba and a major character in the Lilo & Stitch franchise. He was designed to unleash projectiles made of molten rock by ejecting them from the spouts on his back. He truly belongs in creating a new island alongside Yin.

Biography[]

Lilo & Stitch: The Series[]

After a man stranded in the desert tried to fix his broken-down jeep by pouring water into the engine, the water seeped into a crack and triggered the activation of Experiment 502. 502 then emerged from the ground and began wreaking havoc. 502 was trying to cross the street in front of a car when the owner yelled at him to move, prompting the enraged test subject to wreck the driver's vehicle.

Later on, 502 made its way into Kokaua Town and started causing chaos by wrecking everything it encountered. Stitch attempted to intervene by jumping on one of 502's molten lava spouts, but was promptly thrown off as 502 carried on with its destructive spree. Stitch's lack of skill resulted in a disagreement with Lilo, leading both of them to believe they could capture an experiment on their own. They decided to settle their differences through a formal competition, teaming up with different partners, Stitch with Jumba and Lilo with Pleakley, to track down individual experiments.

Shortly after, 502 found himself scratching his body when suddenly, Gantu captured him in a net. Despite being caught, 502 managed to break free by cleverly using his lava abilities to burn through the net. 502 was pursued by Stitch and Jumba in a forest, but the former succeeded in escaping. As they ran away, Experiment 502 and 501 encountered each other. Jumba says that if they made contact, Earth would face destruction. Unfortunately, they were ambushed and imprisoned in glass capsules by Gantu before being able to touch each other.

On his way back to the ship with the two captured experiments, Gantu was tricked by Reuben's sandwich ploy, leading to the escape of 501 and 502. Later on, Lilo found 502 and was met with fireball attacks. Despite this, Stitch used anti-heat foam to incapacitate 502, leaving him vulnerable. 501 and 502 were later reformed, named Yin and Yang, and granted a specific location to work together and generate an entirely fresh island with their united abilities.

In "Elastico", Yang was seen in the crowd watching Lilo perform a hula dance.

In "Finder", Yang was observed engaging in a game of poker with Stitch, Yin, Richter, and Cannonball. He emerged victorious in the poker match, claiming both the pot and winning the bet, which consisted of cookies.

In "Dupe", Yang was among the experiments in Lilo and Stitch's sleepover and showed up in boxer shorts and bunny slippers, but Pleakley made him leave because of his destructive behavior and troublesome actions.

In "Angel", Yang fell into corruption after being influenced by Angel's music. Eventually, Yang and the other corrupted experiments attempted to kill Stitch on a vessel, but Angel was able to redeem them before any harm was done. Through teamwork, the experiments managed to defeat Gantu and flee the ship alongside Stitch.

In "Slugger", Yang joined the softball team that Lilo belonged to.

In "Ace", at the time Mortlegax came to Earth to assess Jumba's current moral alignment, Yin and Yang pretended to be mutant beings in order to deceive the leader of E.G.O. industries.

Leroy & Stitch[]

In the opening, Yang can be seen waving at Lilo, accompanied by Yin and Cannonball. Later on, he was spotted constructing a fresh island with Yin. Afterwards, Leroy gathered the first 624 experiments, including Yang, and brought them to a stadium for their elimination. Before the experiments could be destroyed, Lilo, Stitch, Jumba, Pleakley, Reuben, and Gantu appeared at the scene and destroy the BRB's primary cannon. In the battle between the experiments and Leroy clones, Yin and Yang joined forces to trap the Leroys in stone using their combined abilities. Additionally, Yang hurled spheres of molten lava at the clones. Nevertheless, the Leroys eventually gained the upper hand during the conflict, only to be vanquished by Lilo, Stitch, Reuben, and various other experiments singing "Aloha'Oe". This caused the Leroy army to deactivate as a result of the original Leroy's fail-safe.

Stitch![]

Yang, along with many other experiments, were captured by Hämsterviel and placed in glass containers. With the assistance of Stitch, they were able to break free from captivity and teamed up to stop Hämsterviel, Gantu, and Reuben, thus foiling Hämsterviel's plan to dominate the universe. Following their victory, Yang and the rest of the experiments made their way back to Earth.

Trivia[]

  • Yang is the only experiment other than Stitch who was able to break free from a net by himself.
  • His name originates from the idea of balance between yin and yang. In this instance, his name is linked to the energy of yang, symbolizing traits like masculinity, fire, and warmth, all of which align with his character.
