Yo Shindo, also known as Grand, is minor character of the My Hero Academia franchise. He is a second-year student at Ketsubutsu Academy High School, and made his debut during the Provisional Licensing Exam.
He's voiced by Yūta Kasuya in the Japanese version, and Bryce Papenbrook in the English version, who is also known for voicing Kirito in Sword Art Online, Rin Okumura in Blue Exorcist, Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan, Meliodas in The Seven Deadly Sins, Red in Pokémon: Origins, Shirou Emiya in Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, Masaomi Kida in Durarara!!, and Inosuke Hashibira in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Appearance[]
Yo is a muscular young man with unruly very dark brown hair, and diamond shaped eyes.
His hero costume consists of a gold jaw-guard with green shoulder covers and grey front plates with gold trimmings. As well as black elbow pads, green wrist guards and black baggy pants paired with black boots.
Personality[]
At first, Yo appears to be a friendly, social and kind individual, as shown by how he happily greeted the U.A. students, shook their hands and complimented them all on remaining strong despite the dangers all the students had faced that year. However, this "friendliness" proves to only be a façade that he puts on publicly and to greet others, which was something only Katsuki Bakugo saw through.
In reality, Yo is a scheming and calculating person who is prone to mood swings whenever angered, with his tone immediately switching after seeing that Izuku Midoriya was in his way (much to the latter's shock). He also spearheaded an ambush against the Class 1-A students at the start of the Provisional Licensing Exam, dubbed the crushing of U.A. Furthermore, it is said that he enjoys trolling others online hinting that he enjoys getting under people's skin.
Despite his two-faced attitude however, Yo does prove to very tactful and is also a natural leader who can remain calm during tense and chaotic situations. Also, he does show to be capable of respecting the effort put in by the other candidates despite seeming and being competitive. At the same time however, he's also willing to exploit any weaknesses he might find for his own gain.
Powers and Abilities[]
Quirk[]
Vibrate: Yo's Quirk allows him to cause vibrations on anything he touches, with this power he is capable of creating powerful tremors when using it on the ground. Although the aftermath of these tremors are capable of rendering him immobilised.
Furthermore, Yo has also developed some natural resistance to vibrations due to the after-effects of his Quirk rattling his brain. This gives him a slight advantage against other vibration Quirks.
