Yui Yuigahama is one of the main characters of the manga of Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru. She is a student in Class 2F of Sōbu High School and the first official customer of the Service Club. She later becomes the third member of the Service Club.
She is voiced by Nao Tōyama in the Japanese version, and by Cat Thomas in the English version.
Appearance[]
Yui's appearance varies from book to book. When first introduced, she is described to have loose, shoulder length chestnut-brown hair that would sway when she walked. She is also mentioned to not follow the dress code, wearing her skirt short, the top three buttons of her shirt undone, and a heart charm on a gleaming necklace.
In the anime, Yui has fair skin, light orange hair that is almost always seen with a loose side bun, and peach-reddish eyes. She is mostly seen wearing the standard school uniform: a black blazer with a white collared shirt underneath, a red ribbon tie, and plaid skirt. She wears her tie loose, sometimes omits the tie and blazer, and has the top buttons of her blouse undone. She also wears black knee high socks.
Personality[]
Yui is a cheerful, outgoing girl who becomes the Service Club's first "customer", asking them to help her bake cookies for "a certain someone." Her problems lie not with her personality, but with her inability to deal with issues by herself. She believes that talent is inborn, and often aspired to be like others until Yukino changed her way of thinking. Likewise, she is very optimistic and idealistic and doesn't find it hard at all to trust others and express her emotions.
Trivia[]
- Her choice of pet and overall personality likens her to a dog.
- Whenever her friends are going through something emotionally taxing, she touches their hand, her way of telling them she's got their back and to help them calm down. She does this both to Yukino and Hachiman.
- Yui is partially reminded of Minori Kushieda from Toradora!: airheaded, but actually smarter than she looks, very nice and friendly (but still hides some issues), and the "red headed" cheerful girl of the group, as well as "strong feelings" for the protagonist guy.
- "Yui" can mean "bind," the same way she is often called the glue that keeps the Service Club together. When seated, Yui is always positioned between Hachiman and Yukino.
- In the "Birthday Song for You" drama CD, Yui refers to Zaimokuza as "Chuuni."
