Yukari Shinomiya is a supporting character in the light novel and anime series Kaze no Stigma. She is one of Ayano Kannagi's best friends at school and one of the two who knows about her magical abilities, the other being Nanase Kudo, whom she is almost always seen with. Although a rather minor character, she plays a fairly significant role late in the anime, along with Nanase.
She is voiced by Yuka Inokuchi in the Japanese version of the anime and Kate Oxley in the English version.
Appearance[]
Yukari is a teenage girl of average height with yellow eyes and blonde hair, which is tied in two tails at the front with red ribbons. She is usually seen wearing the same school uniform the other girls wear, though she is seen wearing other clothes on occasion as well.
Personality[]
While it's not known exactly how long Yukari, Ayano and Nanase have known each other, it's clear that they are very close. Yukari and Nanase are the only people at Ayano's school who know about her powers; in the anime, they know from the beginning but in the novels, they don't know until the second volume. Of the three girls, Yukari is the most in touch with her femininity, being the one usually to start conversations about boys and relationships. This especially stands out in comparison to Nanase, who is considered a tomboy due to being very athletic and a member of several sports clubs.
Yukari is a very cheerful girl who is usually seen smiling, as well as very kind. She is a very loyal and supportive friend to Ayano, being determined to help her in any way she can, and cheers her up when she starts to speculate that she isn't much different from the people who use Pandemonium, saying that unlike them, she uses her powers for good. However, she also really enjoys messing with Ayano, and once her feelings for Kazuma come to light, she starts to tease her about them relentlessly. Hobby-wise, Yukari really enjoys karaoke, to the point that Nanase claims she's hooked.
An odd trait of Yukari's is that she is shown to be an improbably good reporter. She is well-connected to the underground information network of the student body and often knows what is happening around the school, such as the rumoured "Seven Wonders of Seiryo Academy". Yukari's information even extends beyond the school and into many areas of the Tokyo metropolis. How she has access to all this information is unknown, as she dodges the question whenever it's brought up, even saying a line similar to the magician's oath ("A reporter never reveals her sources.").
