“ | ...Where am I from? Alas, I know not. Though what use is wondering? Some have speculated I’m from another continent called Archanea. But as I have said, I prefer to let the past be in the past. If I think on it overlong, my heart begins to ache. I fear whatever I left behind could not have been pleasant. Save for one memory... Apologies. I must let it rest. I have Tatiana's feelings to consider. | „ |
~ Zeke. |
Camus, also known as Zeke and Sirius, is a major character from the Fire Emblem franchise. Found on Valentian shores by Tatiana of Rigel, Zeke had no memories, but had an excellent apptitude for combat, allowing him to become a general of the Rigelian army. Slowly, he remembered that his true identity is Camus, born in the Archanean kingdom of Grust and the leader of its Sable Order. Though his heart now belonged to Valentia and Tatiana, Zeke chose to briefly return to Archanea to ensure the safety of the land and people he originally cared for.
Zeke is a supporting portagonist and ally to Alm in Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. As Sirius, he is an ally to Marth in Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem and its remake Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem. Finally, he is ,under his original identity Camus, the anti-heroic main protagonist of Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga and its remake The New Archanea Saga DLC of New Mystery of the Emblem.
Zeke and Sirius are voiced in Japanese by Inoue Kazuhiko, who also voices his original Camus persona and Frost. In English, Zeke and Sirius are voiced by Patrick Seitz, who also voices Draug, Hector, Basilio, and Laurent, as well as Brady from Fire Emblem Heroes onward.
Appearance[]
Zeke is a young man with short blond hair. He wears a black military uniform with red and gold accents. As well as a gold cape. As Sirius, he wears a similar outfit, though with white pants and a red cape. Sirius also wears a white mask originally belonging to Conrad.
Personality[]
Despite his lack of memories, Zeke retained Camus' honor, compassion, and sense of justice. As a knight, he considers himself bound to obey his liege's wishes, but he will not tolerate cruelty from his peers, as seen when he turns on Jerome despite the latter being a fellow Rigelian general. He is also loyal to those he cares about, though this aspect has drawbacks, as he submits easily when they are threatened.
As Sirius, he assumed an introverted, distant demeanor and repeatedly denied that he was Camus. This was to avoid gaining or regaining attachments to anyone in Archanea. Though Zeke remembered his old comrades fondly, particularly Nyna, he considered Rigel his true home and believed that Belf was a worthy successor as the Sable Order's leader.
Biography[]
Backstory[]
Although a deeply honorable man, Camus of Grust believed that as a knight he must obey the wishes of his king, regardless of his own feelings on the matter. Therefore, when Grust's King Ludwick allied with the tyrannical Dolhr Empire, Camus complied with Ludwick's decision despite objecting to the action's of Dolhr's ruler, Medeus the Earth Dragon. Even so, he tried to minimize the suffering of conquered nations as much as possible, earning him the respect of people such as the Holy Kingdom of Archanea's Princess Nyna. When the Archanean League stormed Grust, Camus and fellow general Lorenz defended its Grusthold. Both Nyna and the League's commander, Prince Marth of Altea, pleaded with Camus to join their side, but he refused to betray Ludwick despite their opposing principles. In the end, Camus was defeated and presumed killed in action, though his body was never found.
In Valentia[]
Some time after the fall of Grust, Camus washed up on Valentian shores, clinging to life and with no memory of his past. Tatiana of Rigel found the ailing knight and nursed him back to help. Taking the name Zeke, he quickly became a high-ranking general in the Rigelian Army, as well as one of Emperor Rudolf's most trusted vassals. Shortly before Rigel declared war on the neighboring country of Zofia, Rudolf told Zeke that should he encounter a boy with a mark on his hand, he must serve that boy for the good of Valentia.
During the war, the far less honorable General Jerome forced Zeke into servitude by holding Tatiana hostage at the Witch Nuibaba's manor. Should the Deliverance successfully free Tatiana before battling Jerome's army at the Rigel Plains, Zeke and his men turn on Jerome. After the battle, Alm and Zeke consult with each other in Rigel Village; Zeke initially rejects Alm's request to join The Deliverance out of loyalty to Rudolf, but changes his mind when he sees Alm's cross-shaped birthmark on the back of his hand. Over the course of the war, Zeke began to regain memories of his former life, fully remembering his past after the war's conclusion. He ultimately decides to return to Archanea one final time to ensure the safety of his old companions.
War of Heroes[]
Zeke arrived in Archanea as the War of Heroes commenced, donning Prince Conrad's mask and adopting the name Sirius. His first goal was to ensure the safety of Grust's heirs, Prince Yubello and Princess Yumina. He found the two siblings at Holm Beach, under the protection of the mercenary Ogma, but also threatened by bandits. Ogma suspected Sirius of being in league with the bandits, but if he stayed his hand, then Sirius assured him of his noble intentions, and Marth's army quickly arrived to defeat the ruffians. The four immediately joined Marth to liberate Grust from its occuping leader, General Lang, and continued to help him save the continent from a corrupted Archanean Empire. During the war, the Sable Knight Belf also joined Marth's army and recognized his old leader, but at Sirius' request, did not publicly reveal his identity. Sirius was present during Marth's final assault at The Dragon's Table, where a ressurrected Medeus held a brainwashed Nyna as a potential sacrifice should he be defeated again. Sirius was able to awaken Nyna from her trance, though when she too recognized him, he denied that he was Camus. At the end of the War of Heroes, Sirius disappeared, presumably returning to Valentia and Tatiana.

Quotes[]
“ | Ah, my sweet Tatiana. How cruel for the gods to unite us in such grim times. It grieves me to see you take up arms and put yourself in danger. | „ |
~ Zeke |
“ | I swear it. On this and every battlefield, I will be at your side, keeping you from harm. | „ |
~ Zeke promising Tatiana that they will always be together |
“ | ...Ah, Alm. It seems we will reach Rigel Castle soon. On that day, I will have to aid you in striking down Emperor Rudolf. I know it to be his wish, yet still I wonder if that makes us in the right. The emperor was convinced you would be the one to save Valentia. I confess I still do not fully understand what he meant by that... but I believe in you, Alm. Know that, if nothing else. | „ |
~ Zeke |
“ | I was badly injured when I washed up on Valentia's shores from some other land. Tatiana was the one who found me and took me in. She tended to my wounded body and comforted my broken spirit. It baffled me how one might go so far to aid a complete stranger. But I would not be alive if not for it. She is the reason I still exist at all. So I forgive her for occasionally rubbing sea salt in my wounds instead of salve... | „ |
~ Zeke to Alm |
“ | Emperor Rudolf... Your loyal servant will see your dreams realized! | „ |
~ Zeke in the final battle against Duma |
“ | No, the fault is not yours. Please raise your head. I deliberately provoked the fight so that I could test you. It is I who was at fault. I wish to ask for your forgiveness. | „ |
~ Sirius apologizing to Kris for provoking them into a fight. |
“ | Your actions the other day were virtuous, and befitting of a knight. I know a man who brought forth great tragedy because he was unable to do what you did. | „ |
~ Sirius to Kris |
“ | Yes. I had to escort someone... or rather, help her escape into exile. I had to protect a lone bishop, together with a few other soldiers... as we crossed a bandit-filled mountain. That was the plan. | „ |
~ Sirius hinting at his past to Kris |
“ | Sir Belf, I believe you've mistaken me for another. Please leave me be. | „ |
~ Sirius denying his true identity to Belf |
“ | For argument's sake, if I were in fact the Grustian general you claim I am, Sir Belf... What do you think would result from my revealing myself? A resistance would rise, and I would be their symbol. I would provide the impetus needed to free Grust. I hardly think now is the time for further Grustian blood to be spilt. | „ |
~ Sirius to Belf |
“ | Sir Belf... I am proud to have you as my subordinate. I want you to keep protecting the people, in my stead, for I've already departed from Archanea... | „ |
~ Sirius |
