“ | I bet you've been thinking about what Lumine was saying a while ago. Well, don't let it get to you. Just becoming Sigma could hardly be called evolution. Anyway, X... Even if we Reploids are destined to join the scrap heap when that evolutionary step does come about...We still have to fight... Not only against Mavericks, but against our own destiny as well. | „ |
~ Zero to X in the ending of Mega Man X8. |
“ | I never cared about justice, and I don't recall ever calling myself a hero... I have always only fought for the people I believe in. I won't hesitate... If an enemy appears in front of me, I will destroy it! | „ |

Biography[]
Past[]
After Dr. Wily created Bass in Mega Man 7, who betrayed him in order to prove he was the strongest, Wily studied the Bassnium energy used in his construction and revised scans of Proto Man's design to created Zero, a robot he often dubbed as his greatest masterpiece. However, despite regularly having checkups during his development, Zero contained a large flaw in his cognitive brain which made him violent and disobedient.
Wily, not wanting to risk severe havoc, sealed Zero away in a capsule where he was later found by the Maverick Hunters' Garma unit approximately 100 years after the Classic Mega Man series took place. Zero awoke as a Maverick and destroyed all the members. Sigma went to battle Zero and was almost defeated by him, but a glowing W symbol caused Zero immense pain, and Sigma destroyed it by knocking Zero down unconscious while winning his very first showdown with him.
Zero later joined the Maverick Hunters but Sigma unfortunately had gotten the Maverick Virus from Zero, who was the original carrier of the virus, and thus had become evil, setting up the events of the Mega Man X series.
Mega Man X[]
Zero makes his official debut in this game. He is the leader of the Maverick Hunters. At the start of the game, Mega Man X approached him due to his desire to stop the Maverick uprising. Zero relented, and X went out to save the world.
While X and Vile were fighting, Vile came out on top due to his Ride Armour, but Zero intervened and Vile was forced to retreat. X was quite sorry for his loss, only to be told by Zero that he needed time to grow stronger. Zero then ordered X to continue fighting the Maverick King's rebellion.
After X defeated eight traitorous former Maverick Hunters, Zero appeared to reveal where the Maverick King was making his lair. Upon getting the coordinates, X headed to the castle, where they made a rendezvous and decided that Zero will scout ahead while X finds a safer route. En route, Vile appeared and he and Zero squared off, but Vile this time proved to be too powerful. Just as he was about to kill X, Vile was knocked out of the ride armor by Zero, who was still alive. However, Zero was injured by the Ride Armour's explosion, which devastated his lower body. After X defeated Vile, Zero, with the last of his strength, told X to defeat the Maverick King in his stead, which X would eventually do.
Mega Man X2[]
As he was destroyed in the first game, Zero doesn't appear until X defeats the three X Hunters. Afterwards, Zero appears and defeats a fake Zero that the recently resurrected Maverick King had made. Then, Zero found a way down to the room where the Maverick King made his lair.
Mega Man X3[]
Zero makes his playable debut here. In the intro stage, X gets captured and Zero has to save him. Upon being released from his bonds, X becomes playable for the rest of the game. When X defeats the Maverick King, Zero appears and gets a vaccine from the reformed Doctor Doppler and attacks the Maverick King.
Mega Man X4[]
“ | No, this isn't happening! There's no reason for me to go on! WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOORRRRR?! | „ |
~ Zero breaking down when Iris dies in his arms. |
Zero has a bigger role in Mega Man X4, becoming a fully playable character in his own right and having his own story mode. A girl named Iris who met him during the Sky Lagoon mission becomes his navigator, much to his pleasure despite his fears on what her brother, the Colonel of the Repliforce would think of her decision to join Zero's side. As she loved both of them, Iris wanted to make sure that Zero and the Colonel wouldn't fight in any of their encounters, but despite this, the Colonel is too stubborn to stray from his path, and the two begin fighting anyway, at which point Iris gets possessed by his coding and she and Zero end up fighting. After he accidentally kills her, Zero ends up being traumatized and wonders what his purpose in life is. His trauma doesn't stop him from fighting his way through the Final Weapon, however, and he defeats the Maverick King again.
Mega Man X5[]
Zero gets a bigger role in this game, becoming a fully playable character, albeit with his own gimmick: if he absorbs to many virī, he will become unstable and eventually become locked. Zero will also become unstable if the Eurasia colony strikes the planet. At this point, Zero loses his playability and X becomes the only playable character, guaranteeing that Zero will become a boss. Regardless, Zero sacrifices his life to make sure that X can continue his mission, surviving if Zero didn't absorb too many virī. Despite fighting hard by X's side, Zero seemingly dies after taking critical damage.
Mega Man X6[]
Although Zero is dead, he is mentioned here and there. His Z-Saber is inherited by X, and X can use it on his own without equipping another Special Weapon. A monster in his image, the Nightmare Zero, appears as a boss. It uses the same attacks that Zero himself does in his boss battle in Mega Man X5.
Following Nightmare Zero's defeat, Zero reveals himself to be alive, and he joins X in the fight. If X defeats Sigma without defeating Nightmare Zero, Zero will view this as X being able to protect the city without him and leave without X finding out he is alive.

Mega Man Zero series[]
Zero is the main protagonist of this series. He has a different appearance this time, with less white in his armor. His goal is to stop Doctor Weil from destroying the Earth. Along the way, Zero meets new characters, like Ciel (who would end up being his new love interest and his navigator). Mega Man Zero 4 ended up being the last game in his series, ending with the Ragnarök satellite (which Doctor Weil had captured in his attempts to destroy the Earth) collapsing due to Zero's efforts to stop it. After this, some pronounced Zero as dead, but Ciel was certain of him being still alive. Zero would make his return in Mega Man ZX, having been remade into a BioMetal.

Crosspedia Entry[]
A Special A class Hunter with exceptional combat capabilities and the leader of Special 0 Unit of Maverick Hunters. Always calm and collected, he carries out every mission given to him without hesitation. X is his junior as a Hunter and also his friend, and while Zero acts as something of a mentor to him, the two have often worked together to resolve Maverick incidents. However, when the Reploid militia group, the Repliforce, launched a coup d'etat, Zero ended up having to fight against Iris during his handling of the indecent. Although there had been a connection between the two of them, for the sake of his mission Zero ultimately cut her down. This tragedy has weighed heavily on Zero ever since.
