Zhuge Zhan is a character in the 14th-century Chinese classic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by the late Luo Guanzhong, and its multiple adaptations. He is one of the sons of Zhuge Liang and Yueying.
History
When his mother died his last words that he spoke to him were "Son, continue our dynasty and be merciful.". He later defended the Shu kingdom from Deng Ai's forces but was killed in battle with his son, Zhuge Shang.
In the representation of his unfortunate defense of Shu capital, Shu emperor Liu Shan asked Zhuge Zhan to think of a plan to save his kingdom. Driven by the words of his emperor, Zhuge Zhan elaborated a plan disguising himself as Zhuge Liang, the plan worked and Zhuge at first succeeded in frightening the Wei forces, making him believe that Zhuge Liang was resurrected. However, after understanding the cunning, the Wei army regrouped and attacked again, bringing death to Zhuge Zhan.
Zhuge Zhan died defending Mian Zhu's door with his son Zhuge Shang and Huang Chong, son of Huang Quan.
