How much is that doggy in the window?
~ Sarah Hatoff before adopting Zuzu

Zuzu Hatoff is a supporting character in the Dog Man franchise.

Biography[]

Sarah Hatoff's feisty poodle who bites first and asks questions later. Actually, she doesn't really ask questions. She's a dog.

Appearance[]

She has light gray fur with a lighter gray tail, with three freckles/whisker spots on her snout, and two light gray ears. Her tail has the shape of a flower.

History[]

Books[]

In the first book, Zuzu had a different appearance and a minor role, only appearing as one of the dogs trapped in the Mutt-Masher 2000.

Zuzu's role in the books increases a lot in the sequel, where she serves as a love interest for Dog Man.

She first appears in the pet shelter Penelope's Pets, where Dog Man meets her and falls in love. However, Zuzu is not interested. Eventually, Sarah Hatoff comes into the shelter and adopts her for $50.00 and some thumb tacks (referencing tax). Before leaving, Sarah finds Dog Man and introduces herself to him, starting a new friendship between the two.

Later, Zuzu helps remind Dog Man that skeletons are made of bones, causing Dog Man to not fear the giant, sentient, brainwashed dinosaur skeleton chasing him.

In the third book, she has a supporting role where she and Dog Man use a French Dressing truck they found to spray it all around and causing giant sentient buildings to trip and get destroyed. Eventually, she and Dog Man are saved by Li’l Petey when a Beaty Building tries to eat them when they ran out of dressing.

In the fourth book, she becomes a superhero named Supa Fang and aids her friends in defeating Petey the Cat and Supa-Mecha Philly.

Throughout the rest of the series, Zuzu has no real importance to the story and has more of a supporting role except during the eighth book, where she has a more major role when she was the only one not captured by the Fair Fairy's army, so she went to get help from Li’l Petey.

Eventually, she and Li’l Petey are captured, yet they are saved by a tadpole in the Fair Fairy's army named Molly, and the three go to Dog Man's house to make an antidote for Supa Brain Dots so that they could finally stop the foul Fair Fairy and her army.

Eventually, Li’l Petey convinces his grandfather and the Fair Fairy that he had a balloon with the Supa Brain Dots antidote, with the only way to not lose the powers given from them was to stay in the pond and not breathe. However, when the Fair Fairy ordered her tadpoles to go into the pond, Zuzu, already there, poured in the real antidote, freeing the tadpoles from their trance.

Movie[]

It is confirmed that Zuzu will appear in the film adaptation of the series.

Trivia[]

  • It's unknown if Dog Man still loves her of if she loves him.
  • She and her owner Sarah have the second-to-most appearances out of any Dog Man character, just below Li’l Petey.
    • Depite appearing many times, she is suprisingly a more minor character due to only having two major appearances.
